Job description

Position Summary
In accordance with the established mission, policies, and procedures of the Company, the Quality Control Technician I ensures that the plant remains compliant with all applicable food safety and regulatory requirements. This role identifies and reports any deficiencies or practices that could compromise food safety, product quality, or food defense.
A significant portion of time will be spent in a production environment working alongside production personnel and around various types of manufacturing equipment, requiring extended periods of standing. The remaining time must be used efficiently to organize, maintain, and support a documentation-based quality program.

Duties and Responsibilities

Report any food safety concerns to the SQF Practitioner or Department Supervisor in a timely manner to ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Adhere to all SOPs, SSOPs, GMPs, and HACCP guidelines.
Monitor production conditions, specifications, process controls, and tracking systems.
Collect retain samples and manage the retain sample storage area.
Collect and prepare laboratory samples for third-party testing.
Verify all Critical Control Points (CCPs) in real time.
Initiate corrective actions as necessary and assist in determining root cause and developing preventive action plans.
Verify and document Facility Operational Inspections and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Enforce GMP compliance throughout all manufacturing areas.
Perform sanitation inspections and ATP swabbing during changeovers.
Track and document non-conforming products (product holds).
Ensure all QC areas are clean and organized.
Prepare and clean the QC lab for the oncoming shift.
Complete and close out all required documentation at the end of each shift.
Provide a thorough shift pass-down to the oncoming technician.
Send end-of-shift (EOS) report emails.
Complete daily audits and report findings.
Perform monthly audits and report findings.
Conduct pre-operational inspections of equipment and facility areas.
Verify equipment calibrations.
Confirm product specifications are met.
Verify production lot codes and packaging comply with product specifications.
Perform shipping and receiving verification activities.
Perform additional tasks and special projects as delegated by the Quality Manager.
