CONTROLS ENGINEER

REPORTS TO:

R&D MANAGER

DEPARTMENT:

Maintenance

LOCATION

  1. Positions reporting directly to this position:  _________
  1. POSITION OBJECTIVE:

To support internal and external customers with full electrical engineering services.

Will have the technical knowledge in networking systems, especially with regards to hardware, specifications and limitations, be skilled in AutoCAD and have knowledge of electrical symbols used in the reparation of schematic control diagrams and instrumentation loop diagrams and well as commissioning experience.

  1. QUALIFICATIONS:

5-10 years applicable experience/School

Must be proficient in motor controls, process, PLC and HMI programming and communications protocols.

  1. TRAINING:

Related post-secondary education

            Specific knowledge using Mitsubishi GX Developer, Work32. RSLogix, etc.

  1. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Tasks and Duties

Supports full electrical engineering services.

Is part of the project team and ensures quality services and resolves problems and tasks.

Provides, designs and implements electrical safeties and Arch Flash labeling.

                        Provides electrical engineering support for machine build specifications.

                        Prepares functional descriptions and One Line facility diagrams

                        Provides PLC, Servo, Inverter and HMI programming

                        Provides CNC programming and support

                        Responsible for on-site and offsite commissioning of incoming equipment

                        Provides construction support.


    1. Machinery and Electrical

Proficient with Process Flow and Plant Equipment

Electrical control ( PLC,) process awareness.

CAD/CAM experience is a plus.

    1. Reasoning ability

 Create and maintain PLC standards and procedures.

Full project deliverables are ‘cradle to grave’ from design concept through runoff

Must exhibit a problem-solving mentality and root cause analysis.

Must exhibit interpersonal skills with individuals at all levels in the organization

                  Knowledge of statistical process control and designed experiments


    1. Physical Demands
  1. Sight capabilities to distinguish proper product identification as well as warning and operational indicators.
  2. Hearing capabilities to distinguish differences in warning alarm indicators and standard operation indicators.
  3. Sight capabilities to identify accuracy and neatness of required job assignments.
  4. Good verbal/written communication skills.
  5. Climb and descend all ladders or steps whether fixed or portable on company facilities in order to access all areas if needed.
  6. Walking through, under and around equipment with a clearance of 30”
  7. Ability to grasp tools (manual as well as powered) and uses them in accordance with a safe working manner so as not to injure self or fellow employees.

  1. AUTHORITY/DECISION MAKING:

Works under little or no day-to-day supervision.  Performs all tasks within the

guidelines and procedures as written and within Plastpro employee relations policy.
