Reporting to the Field Superintendent, the Field Supervisor is responsible for overall workforce planning and development. Overseeing labour activities on all assigned RWC projects.


Primary Responsibilities:


Crew Supervision

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead by example by adhering and promoting RWC ways to all field staff and new recruits.
  • Ensure labour requirements are consistently met by aligning workforce planning with project timelines in coordination with Project Managers and Site Foremen.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager and site team to ensure labour budget expectations are met.
  • Coordinate crew schedules across multiple RWC sites.
  • Communicate with the Project Manager and Site Foreman to confirm crews are scheduled to go to site.
  • Reviewing onboarding forms with the P&C team, set up new workers in Salus (safety documentation management system), and notify payroll when workers have been added to the project.
  • Holding site workers accountable for attendance, punctuality, and performance.
  • Attend project handover meetings to understand labour needs and budget requirements.
  • Assist Site Foreman with conflict resolution between all field staff.
  • Administer approved disciplinary action and terminations in collaboration with P&C.
  • Collaborate with the Project Managers and Site Foreman to ensure dependent and independent subcontractors, and payroll employees, adhere to RWC quality control standards
  • Ensure dependent and independent subcontractors adhere to RWC quality control standards prior to approving invoices.
  • Kaizen - Conduct site walk-throughs to provide feedback and recommendations to better support efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with site teams to ensure all required processes are followed, including daily reports, quality control checklists, production and productivity tracking, work environment assessments, Salus safety documentation, etc.
  • Collaborate with site teams to evaluate the site labour force while working to avoid conflicts of interest.
  • Coordinate with site teams to help coordinate difficult tasks.
  • Give guidance to new and/or inexperienced site leadership to promote RWC ways.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Director of Construction.


Recruitment

  • Build teams of qualified applicants to meet labour demands and evaluate field workers on an annual basis.
  • Support continual recruitment by promoting the RWC Referral Program.
  • Responsible for identifying and selecting key talent for the RWC workforce during the 90-day probationary period


Health & Safety

  • Continually support a safe and healthy work environment for all workers on RWC project sites.
  • Coordinate with P&C to ensure workers' safety training and certifications are valid and or up to date.
  • Communicate safety training requirements to P&C, including booking training dates, confirmations and certificate documentation.
  • Monitor and ensure on-site safety compliance, cleanliness, and orderliness are consistently displayed and represented by RWC.


Skills/Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education.
  • Construction Project Management Fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of building technology.
  • 10+ years' experience supervising construction crews.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel), Plexxis and Bluebeam.
  • Proficient with scheduling applications.
  • Ability to interpret and build according to drawings, specifications, and related documents.
  • Valid First Aid, Fall Arrest, Aerial/Boom Lift, and WHMIS certifications.
  • Valid BC driver's license.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, with a high level of self-motivation.
  • Ability to travel between RWC sites for reasonably extended periods of time, including out-of-town projects that may require air travel
