Job description

MissionHires is seeking a Quality Manager I on behalf of a manufacturing organization focused on inventive electrical solutions. This high-impact role leads a team of Quality Technicians while serving as the primary quality liaison for a stainless-steel value stream. The position blends hands-on quality engineering with people leadership, driving customer-focused quality initiatives, problem-solving, continuous improvement, and ISO 9001:2015 compliance.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary quality liaison for the stainless-steel value stream to ensure customer satisfaction and operational excellence
  • Lead, coach, develop, and support a team of four Quality Technicians, including mentoring, career development, scheduling, workload balancing, and shift-handover communication
  • Partner cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Lean, Engineering, Sales, Materials, Procurement, HR, and Maintenance as the plant’s quality subject matter expert
  • Drive adherence to processes, procedures, and quality standards to consistently meet customer requirements
  • Lead investigation and resolution of internal nonconformances (NCRs) and external customer complaints using Six Sigma tools and root-cause analysis
  • Develop, implement, and sustain corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes to resolve issues and prevent recurrence
  • Maintain and strengthen compliance with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System requirements; lead external audits and support internal product/process audits through closure of follow-ups
  • Apply engineering and Lean principles to improve manufacturing quality and reliability
  • Support APQP initiatives including PFMEA, Control Plans, GR&R, Capability Studies, First Article Inspection (FAI), and product/process revisions
  • Manage customer and supplier quality communications, including escalation on complex quality issues as needed
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing and quality functions
  • Experience leading, coaching, or developing others; 2+ years of formal leadership experience preferred
  • Strong customer and supplier management skills with the ability to communicate complex quality issues and elevate appropriately
  • Proficiency with process management, organizational change, Six Sigma, Lean methodologies, and quality management systems
  • Experience with ISO 9001:2015 and audit readiness; ability to lead external audits and support internal audits
  • Hands-on experience with root-cause analysis, NCR management, CAPA development, and problem-solving tools
  • Familiarity with APQP tools: PFMEA, Control Plans, GR&R, Capability Studies, FAI, and managing product/process revisions
  • Preferred: Quality certifications such as CQE, CMQ, CQA; ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor training
  • Preferred: Sheet-steel manufacturing experience and/or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
