Job description
The Biomedical Engineer is responsible for supporting research activities involving wearable sensors, physiological monitoring systems, and related biomedical technologies. Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining research devices and study materials; assisting with laboratory-based and human-subject research procedures; collecting, transferring, organizing, and performing routine quality control of research data; and supporting preliminary data processing and analysis. The Biomedical Engineer also assists with equipment tracking, laboratory organization, inventory and supplies, study logistics, and preparation of research outputs, including datasets, figures, tables, presentations, and publications. Work is performed according to established research protocols and under the direction of senior research personnel.

Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $65,885.00 - $98,827.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
- Conducts routine and standardized research procedures using wearable sensors, physiological monitoring equipment, and other techniques relevant to the research project.
- Prepares wearable devices and related research materials for experimental use, including charging, labeling, assembling, configuring, packaging, inspecting, and resetting equipment.
- Assists with laboratory-based and human-subject research procedures, including device setup, application and removal of research devices, collection of measurements, and documentation of experimental data according to established protocols.
- Downloads, securely transfers, organizes, and reviews data collected from wearable devices, study phones, and other research equipment; assists with routine quality-control procedures and preliminary data processing.
- Assists in the analysis, interpretation, and review of experimental results and contributes to the preparation of datasets, figures, tables, summaries, publications, and presentations.
- Maintains research equipment and study kits by tracking device assignment, use, return, condition, and data transfer, and by ensuring that equipment is prepared and available for research activities.
- Maintains the laboratory environment and assists with inventory, ordering, receiving, organizing, and documenting laboratory supplies and research materials.
- Provides limited logistical and procedural support for research activities, including preparing materials for scheduled studies, supporting equipment distribution and return, and providing routine protocol-based device instructions under the direction of senior research personnel.
- Assists with new research procedures, devices, and experimental techniques and performs other related duties as assigned.
