Quality Control Inspector   

Reports to: Quality Manager

Classification: Non-Exempt   

Safety Sensitive: Yes

Hours:  Mon-Thurs, 4pm-2:30am


The Quality Inspector plays a crucial role in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality and compliance with industry standards throughout the production process. This person will serve as a hands-on resource for our production teams, providing interpretation and guidance on compliance standards. The Quality Inspector will work closely with the Quality Manager, Quality Lead and production teams to uphold Fiber Pad and our customers' quality standards. This role is performed under established guidelines and criteria.  


RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conducts routine inspections of in-process and completed parts for production teams, utilizes manual measuring practices for precise specifications.
  • Verify part to print accuracy for Shipping & Receiving.
  • Complete First Article Inspections and paperwork.
  • Read and understand complex blueprints.
  • Verify stock to engineering revision changes.
  • Utilize measurement tools such as calipers to assess product dimensions and tolerances.
  • Maintain quality systems in accordance with AS9102 standards.
  • Reports on and speak to quality metrics for management review.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement in processes and product quality.
  • Provide training and guidance on quality standards to production staff.
  • Document non-conformances and assist in the development of corrective action plans.
  • Additional duties as needed or assigned by management.
  • Adhere to safety protocols while handling materials and operating equipment.
  • Assist in all phases of housekeeping to keep the facility clean and organized to help maintain a neat and tidy work area. 
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned by leadership.


Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 1 year of Proven experience in a Quality Control or Quality Assurance role within a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to use all measuring tools, read and decipher detailed measurements on blueprints.
  • Ability to read GD&T prints and perform manual measurements frequently to complex specifications.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 Quality System, AS9102 FAI paperwork, First Article Inspection.
  • CMM knowledge strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data effectively.
  • Experience conducting quality audits and implementing quality management systems.
  • Proficiency in using measurement tools such as calipers and gauges.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining independence when necessary.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS products is a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of dependability regarding attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to collaborate and work well within a team environment, and willingness to motivate and support others, supporting the Core Values of Fiber Pad.

  • Ability to use hands including fingers to hold, touch, see, feel, grip, squeeze, push and pull.
  • Ability to perform pushing, pulling, forward exertion on a regular basis.
  • Ability to see near and far, utilize peripheral vision and depth perception for tasks being performed.
  • Ability to have overhead extension with arms on a regular basis
  • Ability to use enhanced levels of manual dexterity with arms and hands to operate taping and packaging materials, forklifts regularly and industrial power tools occasionally.
  • Ability to stand and walk continuously on concrete floor for 10-hour shifts
  • Ability stand, crouch, stoop, bend, kneel and squat frequently.
  • Ability to climb ladders frequently.
  • Ability to work from elevated surface such as a ladder frequently.
  • Ability to bend and twist at the hip and waist area on a regular basis
  • Ability to rotate neck to look backwards, up, down and sideways on a regular basis
  • Ability to regularly lift and or move 45-55 lbs.
  • Ability to understand and communicate verbally, in person and over paging system
  • Ability to meet requirements of and utilize all PPE when required

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
