Job description

Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

We are seeking a Quality Control and Site Safety Superintendent to oversee the construction of National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, MD onsite. 

Our salary range for this position, based on the market data, is $100k to $120k per annum (range varies depending on experience and qualifications).

The project duration is six to eight months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily inspections and maintain a written log documenting areas/operations inspected, inspection dates, identified hazards, recommended corrective actions, and dates of corrections.
  • Attach safety inspection logs to Contractors' daily production reports.
  • Conduct mishap investigations and complete required accident reports.
  • Report mishaps and near misses promptly.
  • Log work-related injuries and illnesses occurring on the project site, and maintain the OSHA's Form 300 on the site safety bulletin board.
  • Maintain relevant safety reference material on the job site.
  • Attend pre-construction conferences, pre-work meetings, preparatory meetings, and periodic in-progress meetings.
  • Review, approve, implement, and enforce Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) and Accident Prevention Plans (APP) for compliance with EM 385-1-1.
  • Establish a Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Deficiency Tracking System to monitor and resolve outstanding deficiencies.
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements.
  • Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals on site.
  • Maintain a weekly list of high-hazard activities, such as energy, equipment, excavation, confined space entry, and elevation.
  • Provide and document site safety orientation and indoctrination for Contractor employees, subcontractor employees, and site visitors.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

  • Degree in Engineering or Construction Management Degree
  • Five years of combined experience as a Superintendent, QC Manager, Project Manager, or Project Engineer on a similar construction project
  • Certified OSHA 30 and EM 385-1-1
  • Completed the course entitled "Construction Quality Management (CQM) for Contractors" and maintain a current certificate (can be done after hiring)
  • Proficient in both written and verbal English
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer skills is required
  • Must lawfully reside in the United States and be eligible for employment (Planate does not sponsor visas or work permits)
