Job description

The Quality Control Inspector (QCI) performs on-site quality control inspections across all EPA-RTP facilities to verify that contractor work meets applicable codes, contract specifications, and quality standards. The QCI works closely with the Quality Control Manager and reports findings to support corrective action and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct quality control inspections of work performed by contractor and subcontractor staff across all EPA-RTP locations
  • Review plans and specifications for task orders developed by planning and estimating staff prior to work commencement
  • Perform final reviews of completed work to ensure quality of final product, code compliance, and task order specification adherence
  • Document inspection findings and provide written reports to the Quality Control Manager
  • Work with contractor and trade staff to identify and correct deficiencies identified during inspections
  • Verify that required permits have been obtained and inspections scheduled appropriately
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable North Carolina building codes, NFPA standards, OSHA regulations, and federal requirements
  • Maintain inspection records in the CMMS for Government review
  • Report significant non-conformances immediately to the Quality Control Manager
  • Support Government COR/TOCOR during work acceptance activities

Position Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in quality control inspections, including reviewing plans and specifications for task orders and performing final reviews of completed work for quality, code compliance, and work plan specification adherence
  • Demonstrated experience working with contractors to identify and remediate non-conformances
  • Familiarity with commercial construction codes including the North Carolina Building Code, NEC, and NFPA standards
  • Experience in large commercial or industrial facility environments preferred
  • Strong documentation and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with CMMS platforms preferred
