As a Quality Assurance Coordinator in our Denver Milk facility, you will support day-to-day execution of food safety, quality, laboratory, and regulatory programs within a Grade-A dairy environment. This includes supporting HACCP, FSMA Preventive Controls, PMO-related compliance, SQF/GFSI expectations, internal audits, product sampling, environmental and microbiological programs, record review, and timely escalation of quality or compliance concerns.
This role partners closely with production and plant support teams to verify controls, investigate deviations, strengthen documentation, and drive continuous improvement. The position also supports QA team execution by helping coordinate technician activities, maintaining clear records, and serving as a backup resource for QA leadership when needed.
This position plays a critical leadership role in fostering a proactive food safety culture, leveraging data and continuous improvement tools to enhance product quality, process capability, and regulatory readiness.
The position will be based in Denver, CO
Main responsibilities:
  • Support execution of the site Food Safety & Quality Management System: Support HACCP, FSMA Preventive Controls, GMPs, PMO-related requirements, SQF/GFSI expectations, sanitation verification, and audit readiness activities.
  • Inspection, audit, and record review: Conduct plant floor inspections, internal audits, record reviews, product checks, and process verifications to confirm compliance with company, regulatory, and customer requirements.
  • Support product safety and quality decisions: Collect and review data, escalate deviations, assist with product holds, and document corrective and preventive actions.
  • Perform and coordinate laboratory activities: Conduct product sampling, microbiological testing, environmental monitoring support, sample preparation, plating, result review, and timely escalation and follow-up on out-of-specification findings.
  • Operational partnership: Work with Operations, Maintenance, Sanitation, and QA leadership to investigate quality issues, identify root causes, verify corrective actions, and reduce repeat deviations.
  • Record maintenance: Maintain accurate and complete records for regulatory, internal, customer, and third-party audit requirements, ensuring documentation is organized, current, and inspection-ready.
  • Inspection and audit support: Support regulatory, customer, third-party, and internal audits by gathering documentation, participating in inspections, and assisting with corrective action tracking through closure.
  • Continuous improvement: Use quality data, trends, and observations to identify improvement opportunities related to product quality, process capability, sanitation effectiveness, complaints, and compliance performance.
  • Training and building bench strength: Help train, coach, and coordinate QA technicians and plant personnel on quality procedures, testing requirements, GMP expectations, and documentation practices.
  • Support: The QA Coordinator acts as a backup resource to the Quality Assurance Manager and helps ensure continuity of QA operations during staffing gaps, absences, audits, or critical business needs.
  • Maintain flexibility to support production schedules, investigations, regulatory activities, and occasional weekend or off-shift coverage as business needs require.

We are looking for candidates who possess the following:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
  • 1-3 years of progressive experience in quality assurance, food safety, or laboratory roles within dairy, beverage, or similar pasteurization processes.
  • Working knowledge in SQF, HACCP, FSMA Preventive Controls, and audit management
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory testing, microbiological methods, product sampling, data review, and quality documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to learn quality systems, laboratory systems, and other business tools used to manage compliance and performance data.
  • Sound technical judgment and analytical capability to evaluate quality data, testing results, process deviations, and documentation trends.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to document findings, summarize risks, and communicate requirements to plant teams and leadership

Preferred:
  • HACCP, PCQI, SQF Practitioner, or related food safety certifications
  • Proficiency with utilizing digital quality management software and tools
