JobTitle: Quality Assurance Manager (Food/Bakery)
Shift: 1st Shift


Summary:
Greenkiss is seeking a QA Manager. The QA Manager is responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight of the Quality Assurance department. This role will develop and maintain quality programs and standards, ensure operations meet regulatory, certification, and customer requirements, drive continuous improvement, and embed a culture of food safety across the business. The Quality Manager maintains audit readiness and acts as the primary company representative during audits and inspections. This role supervises QA Technicians and provides hands-on guidance on the production floor to maintain adherence to all Food Safety and QMS programs. The QA Manager collaborates with the Leadership Team to promote the Company’s mission while driving compliance and accountability to protect product quality and brand integrity.


Duties & Responsibilities:


Quality Assurance

  • Responsible for communicating all food safety & quality issues that are encountered throughout daily operations to appropriate parties for corrective action to be taken.
  • Monitors the implementation of quality control and assurance programs that meet Company and regulatory standards for food safety, quality and consumer acceptance.
  • Monitors quality audit program for the production facility to ensure Company and regulatory compliance standards of product quality, sanitation and process controls are met.
  • Develop and ensure effective documentation practices such as SOPs, work instructions, and quality records, as well as the maintenance of manuals, policies and procedures as they relate to any BRC requirements.
  • Performs and monitors quality control testing/sampling of raw materials, packaging materials, and/or finished products.
  • Assist QA Technicians, when necessary, to conduct line checks and pre-operational inspection.
  • Lead all monthly facility and GMP inspections. Administers monthly internal inspections and corrective actions and oversee corrective action steps.
  • Serve as primary contact for customer complaints. Monitors and maintains procedures for handling customer complaints. Coordinate efforts to address all customer complaints in partnership with the Production Manager.
  • Make proper and appropriate accountability for waste. Champion waste reduction efforts.
  • Oversee external QA product databases (e.g., Syndigo, Sysco) to ensure accurate SKU data; train QA data support staff and verify data integrity.


Food Safety & Compliance

  • Manage compliance with GFSI / FSMA regulations and corresponding certification programs such as BRC, HACCP, and others. Obtains and/or updates necessary food and plant licenses as needed. Verifies effectiveness of programs and acts as HACCP Team Leader.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of food safety and quality processes. Serve as Key Advisor for product quality, food safety, and compliance-related decisions.
  • Serves as primary contact for all quality and food safety audits and inspections.
  • Lead all 3rd party, customer and regulatory audits. Perform and schedule review of all internal auditing programs to ensure compliance with BRC standard.
  • Ensure all labeling and record keeping compliance requirements are met.
  • Oversee Quality/FSQ documentation systems, and integration of IT systems that support quality management and traceability. Drive digital transformation and system improvements to enhance efficiency and traceability with improved data.
  • Serve as primary contact for kosher certification; maintain KVH database to ensure all ingredients and products are certified and current.
  • Partner with Production Manager on any food safety issues or corrective actions as needed.
  • Manage outside vendor Service providers critical of the Food Safety plan.


Supervision & Team Leadership

  • Works as part of the Leadership Team to achieve overall Company strategies and goals.
  • Executes all Company policies and procedures in a productive and efficient manner.
  • Effectively communicate and maintain strong working relationships with appropriate personnel across the organization.
  • Perform supervisory activities such as conducting ongoing performance management of QA staff; reward and discipline employees as needed; mentoring, training, and coaching employees.
  • Manages and monitors all quality training to include HACCP, GMP, Food Safety, Food Defense, and Chemical Use standards. Partner with HR to ensure training programs are documented, effective, and aligned with regulatory and certification requirements.


Education &/Or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; major in Food Science, microbiology, chemistry, or related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience in the Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical, or Chemical manufacturing industry. Including at least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or people manager role.
  • Certifications (Highly Preferred): BRCGS Professional, HACCP, PCQI, GFSI, SQF Practitioner/Internal Auditor.
  • Strong knowledge of ingredient functionality, process controls, lean manufacturing practices, food safety and quality regulations.
  • Experience with regulatory and third-party audits, food labeling, and EMP.
  • Strong leadership skills, proven ability to manage and develop a team.
  • Effective communicator with interpersonal and diplomacy skills.
  • Strong Systems thinking, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis skills, ability to troubleshoot problems and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong overall business and industry knowledge.
  • Proven attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, plan and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to seek out fiscal responsibility.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.


Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • This role is on the Plant Floor (80%) – with the below physical requirements.
  • Must be able to walk, reach, bend, and climb steps
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Exposed to hot and cold temperatures, including working in refrigeration and freezer units
