Job Description

The Quality Inspector performs detailed inspections of incoming raw materials and manufactured parts to ensure they meet engineering drawings, specifications, and industry quality standards. This role uses precision measurement tools, interprets blueprints and GD&T requirements, and documents inspection results to support a robust quality assurance program within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform incoming inspections on raw materials and manufactured parts to verify conformance to specifications and quality requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) requirements to determine inspection criteria.
• Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement equipment to inspect dimensions and features accurately.
• Conduct receiving inspection and final inspection activities to ensure products meet defined quality standards before release.
• Review material certifications, test reports, and other quality documentation to confirm compliance with applicable requirements.
• Document inspection results clearly and accurately, maintaining detailed records of measurements, findings, and inspection status.
• Identify non-conforming materials and components, initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and support the disposition process.
• Follow AS9100 quality standards and internal procedures while performing all inspection and documentation activities.
• Support First Article Inspection (FAI) activities by verifying initial production parts against drawings and specifications.
• Collaborate with quality, engineering, and production teams to communicate inspection findings and help resolve quality issues.
• Contribute to overall quality control and quality assurance efforts by providing feedback on recurring issues and potential improvements.

Essential Skills

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles.
• Proficiency using precision measurement equipment such as calipers and micrometers.
• Experience performing incoming inspection and final inspection in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR) processes and documentation.
• Familiarity with AS9100 quality standards and their application in inspection activities.
• Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) and related documentation.
• Experience in quality control and quality assurance functions.
• Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience or related field.
• Ability to accurately document inspection results and maintain organized quality records.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify non-conforming materials and components.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
• Exposure to structured quality management systems, particularly those aligned with AS9100.
• Comfort working with both raw materials and finished manufactured parts.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including production and engineering.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.

Work Environment

This role operates in a manufacturing environment that supports aerospace production and quality assurance activities. You will work around precision measurement equipment, inspection stations, and production areas while following established quality procedures and documentation practices. The position involves hands-on inspection of materials and parts, regular interaction with production and quality teams, and adherence to formal quality standards and processes.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carson, CA 90745.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
