Compensation: $35 - $45 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Per diem and travel reimbursement may be available for qualifying candidates.

About the Position

HRV Conformance Verification Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced PCI Level II Certified Concrete Inspector for an immediate project assignment in Middlebury, Vermont. This is a short-term project with approximately 3 weeks of work remaining and requires someone who can mobilize and begin work immediately.

Candidates must hold a current PCI Level II certification and have experience performing quality assurance inspection of precast/prestressed concrete fabrication. Because of the immediate need and short project duration, preference will be given to qualified candidates located within approximately 300 miles of Middlebury, VT who can quickly mobilize to the project.

The successful candidate will perform quality assurance inspection and documentation to verify that fabrication activities comply with applicable project specifications, approved drawings, industry standards, and client requirements.

Primary Responsibilities Concrete Inspection (80%)
  • Perform quality assurance inspection of precast and prestressed concrete fabrication
  • Verify fabrication activities are performed in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, and applicable standards
  • Inspect reinforcing steel, prestressing materials, embedments, dimensions, and other components prior to concrete placement
  • Observe concrete placement and verify applicable production and quality requirements
  • Monitor concrete testing and review applicable test results
  • Inspect completed precast/prestressed concrete products for dimensional accuracy, workmanship, defects, and conformance with project requirements
  • Review plant quality control documentation and applicable production records
  • Identify and document nonconforming work or materials
  • Communicate inspection findings with plant personnel, project managers, and clients as required
  • Maintain organized inspection records and supporting documentation
  • Promote and maintain safe work practices while performing inspection activities
Project Documentation & Administrative Responsibilities (20%)
  • Prepare and submit accurate daily and/or weekly inspection reports documenting work performed, inspection findings, testing results, and compliance with project specifications
  • Maintain organized inspection records, photographs, and supporting project documentation
  • Submit weekly timesheets and expense reports accurately and on time in accordance with company procedures
  • Communicate project status, inspection findings, and potential issues to the Project Manager
  • Assist with project closeout documentation as required
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current PCI Level II Certification
  • Experience performing precast and/or prestressed concrete inspection
  • Knowledge of concrete fabrication, inspection procedures, and quality assurance requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret project drawings, specifications, and applicable contract documents
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prepare accurate and detailed inspection reports
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to work safely in an active precast/prestressed concrete fabrication environment
  • Ability to begin the assignment immediately
Preferred Qualifications
  • Located within approximately 300 miles of Middlebury, VT
  • Previous experience performing PCI plant inspection
  • Experience inspecting precast/prestressed concrete components for transportation or infrastructure projects
  • Experience working on state DOT or other government infrastructure projects
  • Additional concrete inspection or testing certifications
  • Strong knowledge of precast/prestressed concrete production and quality control processes
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining positive working relationships with plant personnel, project managers, and clients
