We are currently looking for a Quality Assurance Inspector to join our team in Decatur, Illinois.

Purpose of this position:

Reporting directly to the Q. A. Manager the Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible to ensure implementation and execution of the QMS (Quality Management System) and to verify products are produced in accordance with the product realization design.

Task and Responsibilities:

Safety:

  • Sets an example for all plant employees by performing all quality functions in a safe manner and encourages safety as a staff member on the plant floor.
  • Ensure outside visitors are aware of, and, comply with Nortrak safety practices and requirements.

Quality:

  • To perform appropriate inspections, to ensure that product realization processes meet all applicable specifications and standards.
  • Performs internal process audits to verify QMS effectiveness.
  • Maintains and controls quality records associated to product verification, measuring equipment calibration and material certification.
  • Inspects, tests, and measures all the finishing materials.
  • Ensure the operations and productions are following the company’s standards.
  • Actively ensures compliance with the Nortrak’s QMS.

On-Time Delivery:

  • Performs duties as required to ensure that customer delivery commitments can be met and files quality records in a timely manner.

Costs:

  • Implements the Non-conformance and Gauge Control Programs. Reviews plant processes and pro-actively recommends material and process improvements.

People:

  • Acts as a resource to management and plant employees by promoting quality product and helping to train employees to avoid production of non-conforming product.
  • Effectively liaises with customer inspectors.
  • The QA inspector reports directly to the Manager, QA.

Environmental:

  • Adhere to Nortrak's Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other suitable discipline.
  • Vocational technical training in quality assurance related field is preferred.

Field of Experience:

  • 1 to 3 years’ related experience in inspection, or
  • At least 2 years’ experience within Nortrak employment.
  • Knowledge in using variety of industry tools for calibration purposes.
  • Inspection, testing, or measuring materials or products being produced.
  • Knowledge of reading blueprints and specifications.
  • Monitoring operations to ensure production standards.
  • Assembly or production processes.
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office standard, MS Projects and special programs (i.e.: MS Vision, MS SharePoint).

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or climbing.
  • Must be able to lift or handle up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasional travel may be required which includes walking, standing, sitting and driving from short to long periods of time.

Salary:

  • $50,000/year - $65,000/year
