Industrial Utility Maintenance Mechanic

Location: Quad – Chemical Research/Technology (CR/T), Valdosta, GA

Pay: $30.64/hour

Shift:

  • 1st Shift | Monday–Friday | 7:30 am – 4:00 pm
  • Weekend rotation as needed

Union Facility: Quad's Valdosta CR/T location is a union manufacturing facility.

Experience Preferred: Three or more years of industrial maintenance experience is preferred. Candidates with experience maintaining boilers, cooling towers, pumps, water systems, piping, and other industrial utility or process equipment are strongly encouraged to apply.

Build the Products Behind the Products Chemical Research/Technology (CR/T)

Quad's ink manufacturing subsidiary, developing and manufacturing the inks, coatings, and related materials that support Quad's printing operations nationwide.

Our Valdosta, GA CR/T facility specializes in manufacturing rosin-based resin polymers used in ink production, including materials that support CR/T's EnviroTech ink technologies. As part of this team, you'll help keep the critical equipment and utility systems behind this specialized resin manufacturing operation running safely and reliably.

Position Summary

Quad is seeking an Industrial Utility Maintenance Mechanic to join our CR/T team in Valdosta, Georgia.

In this role, you'll perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, fabrication, and rebuilding on production and facility utility equipment. You'll work with a variety of industrial mechanical and process systems while developing a strong understanding of our resin manufacturing operation and the equipment that supports it.

You'll also work alongside experienced mechanics and journeyman mechanics to improve equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and support safe and efficient production.

What You'll Do
  • Perform equipment rounds, scheduled maintenance, repairs, fabrication, and rebuilding of production-related equipment.
  • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial utility and mechanical systems.
  • Work with equipment including cooling towers, steam boilers, water softeners, heaters, pumps, Dura Circulators, expansion tanks, and piping systems.
  • Read and interpret basic assembly drawings, parts diagrams, and exploded-view drawings.
  • Lubricate, adjust, repair, and replace common mechanical components, including timing chains, sprockets, timing belts, bearings, seals, and related equipment.
  • Safely use hand and power tools, torque wrenches, bearing and seal drivers, drills, grinders, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Perform MIG and TIG welding as required.
  • Assist mechanics and journeyman mechanics with inspections, preventive maintenance, proactive maintenance, and equipment repairs.
  • Develop an understanding of the resin manufacturing process and how equipment performance can affect production quality and yields.
  • Follow all safety and environmental procedures, including lockout/tagout, confined space, and hot work permitting requirements.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in safe, reliable working condition.
  • Document maintenance activities using computerized systems.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
  • Three or more years of industrial maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Experience with cooling towers, steam boilers, water softeners, heaters, pumps, Dura Circulators, expansion tanks, and pipefitting is preferred.
  • Proficiency with MIG and TIG welding.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance and industrial equipment repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment drawings, parts diagrams, and maintenance instructions.
  • Experience safely using industrial hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.
  • Strong computer skills, including email, Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to follow instructions, prioritize work, and complete assigned tasks on time.
  • Strong commitment to following safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English to safely perform job duties, follow maintenance and safety procedures, document work, and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Ability to work in hot temperatures and industrial manufacturing conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand, walk, and climb intermittently throughout the shift.
  • Ability to work 7:30 am–4:00 pm Monday–Friday, including weekend rotations as needed.
