Position Overview

Odyssey Information Services is seeking a C++ / Qt Software Engineer for a client developing highly specialized, secure telecommunications technology.

This is an application-level software development position focused heavily on C++, Qt and Linux. This is not an embedded systems or firmware development role.

The position is onsite five days per week in Richardson, TX and is expected to convert to full-time employment after the initial contract period.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, enhance and maintain application-level software using C++ and Qt
  • Develop and maintain graphical user interfaces and supporting application functionality
  • Develop software within a Linux environment
  • Troubleshoot, debug and resolve complex application issues
  • Participate in software design, code reviews, testing and integration
  • Develop reliable, maintainable and scalable object-oriented software
  • Collaborate with other software engineers and technical teams throughout the development lifecycle

Required Qualifications

  • 2 7 years of professional software development experience
  • Strong hands-on C++ application development experience
  • Professional development experience with the Qt framework
  • Experience developing applications in a Linux/Unix environment
  • Strong object-oriented design and programming skills
  • Experience with multithreaded application development
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving abilities
  • U.S. citizenship required due to federal/customer requirements
  • Ability to work onsite five days per week in Richardson, TX

No active security clearance is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Telecommunications, networking or secure communications software experience
  • TCP/IP and networking knowledge
  • Experience with Boost or other commonly used C++ libraries
  • Experience within defense, aerospace, government contracting or similarly regulated technical environments
  • Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical discipline

Compensation & Employment

This position will begin as a 6-month W2 contract with the intention of converting to full-time employment.

  • Contract Pay: $45 $50/hour W2
  • Schedule: Onsite five days per week in Richardson, TX
