Job description

Position Summary
We are seeking a Welding Inspector / QC Technician to support weld quality, fabrication quality, and overall product conformance in our AS9100 manufacturing environment. This position will serve as the primary resource for weld inspection, welding quality, and management of welding documentation, while also supporting general quality control activities as needed. This role reports directly to the Quality Control Manager.
A current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is not required, but candidates must have the welding knowledge and experience necessary to pursue certification. The company will support and pay for CWI certification for the right candidate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform visual inspection of welded components and assemblies to verify compliance with drawings, weld symbols, workmanship standards, customer requirements, and applicable welding specifications.
  • Inspect welds for size, profile, location, fit-up, and visual discontinuities, and document nonconformances as needed.
  • Review and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, customer requirements, and manufacturing specifications to determine inspection criteria.
  • Manage and maintain WPSs, PQRs, and other welding-related quality documentation to support production and compliance requirements.
  • Support weld quality throughout fabrication by working with welders, supervisors, and production personnel to identify and resolve weld-related issues.
  • Assist with weld repairs, rework verification, and corrective actions related to welding quality.
  • Perform general QC duties including in-process and final inspection, dimensional verification, documentation of inspection results, and support of nonconformance reporting.
  • Help maintain quality records and support compliance with AS9100 and customer quality requirements.

Required Qualifications
  • Strong welding and fabrication shop experience with a solid understanding of weld quality, weld symbols, and visual weld inspection.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and manufacturing drawings.
  • Experience using standard inspection and measuring tools in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and ability to communicate quality concerns clearly.
  • Experience sufficient to pursue AWS CWI certification.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous quality control, welding inspection, or quality assurance experience.
  • Experience with WPSs, PQRs, weld documentation, and welding-related quality records.
  • Experience in an AS9100 manufacturing environment.
  • Current AWS CWI certification is a plus, but not required.
