QA/Test Automation Engineer Quantico, VA / Hybrid Active Top Secret (TS) clearance Blu Omega is seeking a QA/Test Automation Engineer to support a DCSA national security program focused on modernizing the National Background Investigation Services (NBIS) personnel vetting platform. This role operates within a controlled DoD delivery environment and is responsible for designing, executing, and automating tests to support reliable releases, validated integrations, accurate data movement, secure user access, and measurable software quality. The position requires experience supporting software testing and test automation within a mission-driven environment. Program Overview Blu Omega supports DCSA's NBIS modernization effort, including maintaining ongoing operations and modernizing the application through cloud migration and refactoring to support the federal background investigation process. Key Details Location: Quantico, VA (hybrid schedule; 2 days per week on-site) Clearance: Active Top Secret (TS) clearance Responsibilities * Develop and execute manual and automated tests for mission application functionality, workflows, APIs, integrations, reports, data exchanges, and role-based access scenarios * Build and maintain automated regression, smoke, integration, API, and release validation test suites * Analyze requirements, user stories, business rules, acceptance criteria, interface specifications, and technical designs to define test coverage * Validate workflow behavior, case processing logic, reporting outputs, notification paths, user permissions, audit events, and exception handling * Test cloud-hosted applications and services (AWS preferred) * Identify, document, triage, retest, and track defects in coordination with developers, systems engineers, database teams, cybersecurity, product owners, and release managers * Support test planning, test data preparation, deployment validation, post-release verification, and production issue analysis * Validate system behavior across test, integration, staging, and production-like environments * Support testing for modernization, migration, refactoring, interface updates, and transition from legacy to target-state capabilities * Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, defects, release scope, and quality outcomes * Support compliance-oriented testing, including access control, audit logging, vulnerability remediation validation, Section 508, data integrity, and security-sensitive functionality Required Qualifications * 3 years of experience * Active Top Secret (TS) clearance * Current DoD 8570 compliance at the level required for the role * Journeyman-level experience in software testing, QA engineering, test automation, or quality engineering * Experience creating and maintaining automated tests for enterprise applications, APIs, integrations, or data-driven systems * Experience with functional, regression, integration, smoke, release validation, and defect retest activities * Familiarity with Agile, DevSecOps, CI/CD, test management, and defect tracking practices * Familiarity with cloud computing environments (AWS experience preferred) * Ability to isolate defects across application, data, integration, configuration, environment, identity, and access-control layers * Strong written communication skills for test cases, defect reports, test summaries, release risks, and quality metrics Preferred Qualifications * Experience supporting secure mission platforms involving case management, industrial security, personnel or facility vetting, workflow automation, compliance, or controlled information exchange * Experience with Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Postman, ReadyAPI, JMeter, Cucumber, or similar tools * Experience testing APIs, microservices, cloud-hosted applications, identity/access controls, reporting functions, and data integration services * Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, GitLab, Jenkins, or similar delivery platforms * Familiarity with RMF, ATO, STIG validation, vulnerability remediation testing, audit logging, and federal compliance requirements * Certifications such as Security+ CE, CTFL, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Developer Associate, or Agile testing credentials Compensation Salary Range: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 Final compensation is based on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance.
