Job description

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a QA/QC Representative opportunity in Johnson City, TN.
Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance/Quality Control Representative is responsible for implementing and monitoring quality assurance and quality control processes on large-scale commercial and industrial projects. This role ensures that construction activities comply with project specifications, engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and established quality management systems.
The QA Representative works closely with engineering, procurement, and construction/project teams to verify that materials, workmanship, and installation processes meet project requirements. This individual also supports inspection activities, identifies nonconforming conditions, and ensures corrective actions are implemented effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform field quality assurance inspections to verify compliance with project specifications, drawings, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and verify construction activities including concrete placement, structural steel installation, welding, and other critical construction operations.
  • Review inspection and test plans (ITPs), procedures, and quality documentation to ensure compliance with project standards.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning teams to ensure quality requirements are integrated across project phases.
  • Conduct and oversee inspections related to concrete testing, composition testing, welding inspection, and structural steel inspections.
  • Identify nonconforming materials, processes, or installations and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Track, document, and verify closure of nonconformance reports (NCRs) and corrective action requests (CARs).
  • Support audits and surveillance activities to ensure adherence to quality management systems and project requirements.
  • Provide field guidance to project personnel regarding quality standards and inspection procedures.
  • Maintain detailed inspection reports, quality records, and documentation in accordance with project quality plans.
  • Collaborate with project leadership to continuously improve quality processes and resolve technical issues impacting construction activities.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Engineering, Construction, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years of experience performing quality control, quality assurance, and inspection activities on large-scale commercial and industrial construction projects.
  • Technical knowledge in the application of engineering, environmental science, procurement, construction, testing, operations, and commissioning practices sufficient to comprehend specified engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations, commissioning, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experienced in the application of corrective actions to reconcile nonconforming conditions.
  • Reasoning skills for problem identification and resolution.
