The Compounding Manager oversees daily batching, mixing, and compounding operations for health & beauty products, ensuring all formulas are produced accurately, safely, and efficiently. This role leads a team of compounders, maintains GMP compliance, coordinates with Quality, Production, and R&D, and ensures all materials, equipment, and documentation meet regulatory and brand standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Batch Production Oversight — Manage daily compounding schedules, ensuring formulas are produced according to specifications, SOPs, and GMP requirements.
- Team Leadership — Supervise, train, and evaluate compounders; assign tasks; ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Formula Accuracy — Verify weights, measurements, mixing speeds, temperatures, and processing times for all batches.
- Equipment Management — Oversee cleaning, calibration, and maintenance of kettles, mixers, pumps, scales, and transfer systems.
- Raw Material Control — Ensure correct materials are staged, labeled, and used; monitor inventory levels; report shortages.
- Documentation & Compliance — Complete batch records, log sheets, deviation reports, and cleaning documentation in accordance with GMP and FDA guidelines.
- Quality Collaboration — Partner with QA to resolve batch issues, perform in‑process checks, and support product release.
- Safety & GMP — Enforce safety protocols, PPE usage, chemical handling procedures, and sanitation standards.
- Continuous Improvement — Identify process inefficiencies, recommend improvements, and support scale‑up of new formulas.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in health & beauty, cosmetic, personal care, or pharmaceutical compounding.
- Strong knowledge of GMP, SOPs, and batch manufacturing processes.
- Experience managing or supervising production teams.
- Ability to read and interpret batch sheets, formulas, and technical specifications.
- Proficiency with mixing equipment, heating systems, transfer pumps, and weighing tools.
- Strong math, measurement accuracy, and documentation skills.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
