QA/QC Inspector 

Position Summary

The QA/QC Inspector is responsible for ensuring all construction activities meet applicable project specifications, customer requirements, industry codes, and company quality standards. This position performs inspections throughout all phases of construction to verify compliance while working closely with project management, field supervision, craft personnel, and clients.

At TankWorx, quality is everyone's responsibility. Our QA/QC team is expected to be hands-on, solution-oriented, and committed to helping projects succeed. While quality assurance and quality control are the primary responsibilities, this role also requires flexibility and a willingness to support the project team wherever needed to safely complete the work.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections of industrial construction activities including:
    • API storage tanks
    • Pressure vessels
    • Structural steel
    • Piping systems
    • Mechanical installations
    • Civil and concrete work (as applicable)
  • Verify work complies with project specifications, drawings, applicable codes, client requirements, and company procedures.
  • Conduct and document visual inspections throughout all phases of construction.
  • Prepare and maintain inspection reports, quality records, turnover packages, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate inspections with customers, third-party inspectors, and authorized inspection agencies.
  • Review drawings, specifications, welding procedures (WPS/PQR), inspection test plans (ITPs), and quality plans.
  • Monitor welding, fabrication, fit-up, dimensional checks, coatings, and testing activities.
  • Assist in identifying nonconforming work and help facilitate corrective actions.
  • Participate in project planning meetings, quality meetings, and client discussions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation to support project turnover and final acceptance.
  • Promote continuous improvement in quality processes and field execution.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with company safety policies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of industrial construction QA/QC experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • API 650
    • API 653
    • ASME Section VIII
    • ASME Section IX
    • AWS D1.1 (preferred)
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, P&IDs, isometric drawings, specifications, and codes.
  • Experience with inspection documentation and turnover packages.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams.

  • CWI (Certified Welding Inspector)
  • TWIC Card (Required)
  • API 510
  • API 653 Inspector
  • API 650 experience
  • NACE Coating Inspector
  • NCCER credentials
  • OSHA 30

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, tanks, structures, etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 – 70 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and access elevated work areas.
