Quality Engineer / Quality Assurance Engineer

Location: Tallahassee, FL
Work Arrangement: On-Site

Position Summary

Capital Technology Alliance is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer / Quality Assurance Engineer to support enterprise software quality assurance, testing, process improvement, and quality assessment activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive test strategies, validating application and database functionality, managing defects and quality metrics, supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and ensuring established quality standards and methodologies are consistently followed.

This position requires a strong combination of software testing, Microsoft SQL Server database validation, quality auditing/assessment, business process understanding, and stakeholder communication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze project requirements, business requirements, functional specifications, and system design documents to determine comprehensive testing requirements.
  • Develop, document, maintain, and execute formal test plans, test cases, test scenarios, and test scripts.
  • Perform functional, integration, regression, system, database, and other required testing to ensure delivery of high-quality software applications.
  • Participate in test automation development and execution activities.
  • Design and manipulate test data to support comprehensive application and database testing.
  • Perform database testing in Microsoft SQL Server environments, including validation of:
    • Stored procedures
    • SQL Server jobs
    • Triggers
    • Replication
    • Data integrity and business rules
  • Define, track, analyze, and report QA metrics, including defect counts, defect status, test execution results, and overall testing progress.
  • Document defects and identified quality issues and work collaboratively with development teams through resolution and retesting.
  • Facilitate test plan reviews, use-case reviews, and testing discussions with development teams, business users, and key stakeholders.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and provide demonstrations of fully tested application functionality.
  • Analyze quality and testing data to identify opportunities for continuous process improvement.
  • Incorporate testing findings and improvement recommendations into business and technical processes.
  • Conduct quality audits and assessments across IT functions to ensure compliance with established quality standards, procedures, and methodologies.
  • Provide quality-process training to technical teams and serve as an internal quality consultant.
  • Collaborate with technical, business, State, and Federal stakeholders through project meetings and conference calls as required.
  • Research emerging technologies and evaluate their potential use within the project and technical environment.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 7 years of combined IT and business experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant Quality Assurance experience, including software/system development, testing, and/or business applications.
  • Minimum 2 years of audit, assessment, quality review, or related experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server database testing.
  • Experience creating and manipulating test data and validating stored procedures, SQL jobs, triggers, and replication.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business, functional, and technical requirements into comprehensive test plans and test cases.
  • Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, QA processes, SDLC/STLC, defect management, and quality assurance best practices.
  • Strong understanding of business processes and their relationship to system functionality and testing requirements.
  • Ability to effectively communicate testing results, defects, risks, and quality metrics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
