Opportunity:
RN - Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse
Job Details:
• Work in a Level III NICU providing care for high-risk and critically ill preterm and term newborns
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required; Level III NICU experience is mandatory with no exceptions
• Patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:3 following AWHONN staffing standards
• Provide care for patients requiring respiratory support including nasal cannula, CPAP, NAVA, conventional ventilation, oscillator ventilation, and nitric oxide
• Manage central lines including PICC, UAC, UVC, arterial lines, Broviac, and chest tubes
• Perform NG/PO feedings, IV therapy including maintenance fluids, vasopressor support, sedation and paralytics, video EEG, and cooling
• Conduct assessment/reassessment, medication administration, and collaborate with ancillary departments and families to provide exceptional infant care
• Utilize EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, Angel Eye milk tracker, GE B450 cardiac monitoring, Medela feeding pumps, and Artic Sun cooling equipment
• Weekend rotation required with every other weekend scheduled; block and pattern scheduling not guaranteed
• No set schedules - placed into schedule based on unit needs
• No on-call requirements
• Holiday expectations every other holiday based on start date
• May float to Women's Care Center for newborn care only; travelers float first
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, STABLE
• Scrub color: Any color, no denim or camouflage; professional appearance required

This facility is a Level IV Trauma Center and Level III NICU located in Milwaukee, WI, with 228 total beds and a dedicated 42-bed NICU. The facility holds recognition as an Accreta Center of Excellence and an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center, and operates as a teaching hospital. The NICU unit is supported 24/7 by charge nurses, respiratory therapy, and neonatology staff, with additional support from a house supervisor, Women's Health Director, NICU Nurse Manager, NICU Nurse Educator, and a comprehensive team including lactation consultants, occupational therapy, speech therapy, social work, case management, pharmacy, dietician, and chaplain services.
