Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU/Oncology position requiring 2 years of ICU experience and a MO or compact RN license.

Details
  • Work in the ICU/Oncology unit of a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital
  • Average daily census of 21 with 25 beds
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Night shift, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
  • Can sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating required within oncology service line/ICUs, with potential to float anywhere
  • Uses Epic for charting
  • Uses Pyxis and SBAR handoff processes
  • No chemotherapy, central line insertion, or chest tube insertion performed by nursing staff
  • Nurses draw their own phlebotomy
Requirements
  • Active MO or compact RN license required (no issuance if tied to another compact state)
  • Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
  • BSN preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Skills required: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, multi-system organ failure care, IV insulin protocols, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, starting IVs, continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation administration, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, BiPAP, ventilator management, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, suctioning (ETT, NT), infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, phlebotomy, and surgical wound/wound vac care
  • Chest tube insertion/removal assistance preferred
  • Pending MO or IL license accepted at time of submission
Additional Information
  • Provide ICU-level nursing care to an oncology patient population with support from Interpretation Services, IV Teams, Pharmacy, PT, Social Services, Radiology, Respiratory, Rapid Response Teams, Patient Transport, and Unit Secretary
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
  • Must reside outside a 75-mile radius to be eligible for this position
  • Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period, followed by a required 3-month break in service
  • Permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Facial hair must allow for proper respirator fit testing or must be shaved with no exceptions
