General Description:
Performs all dispensing functions required after physician order evaluation and computer entry. Continually monitors patient medication regimens. Under protocol, determines requested medication dosages, orders the medication, and orders appropriate laboratory tests to monitor treatment. Supervises Technicians to assure medication preparation and delivery are carried out.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluates physician orders for appropriateness and safety for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations. *
  • Performs accurate and timely computer order entry.
  • Dispenses new and daily medications, checks Pyxis, Pyxis Cubies, refill lists, does share of CII Safe transactions (ex. sends, receives, returns, wastes and expires) oversees and verifies technicians.
  • Performs accurate and timely IV and chemotherapy admixture.
  • Performs all clinical functions and therapeutic monitoring of medications for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations.
  • Consults with medical staff, nursing staff, and professional staff regarding medication therapy and general or specific medication information.
  • Monitors narcotic inventory in Pharmacy and on nursing units.
  • Performs quarterly assignments and nursing liaison activities.
  • Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as pertains to the work area.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Formal Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required, Pharm.D. preferred

Work Experience:
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience.

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
  • Clear/active State of Florida Pharmacist License.
