Senior Cloud Platform Engineer (Python / AWS)

Location: Orlando, FL
Contract: W2 only, 12-month initial contract with potential for extension or conversion to full-time with either the client or CEI
Pay: $75-$80/hour + optional medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to join our engineering organization and help design, build, and support scalable cloud-based platforms that power real-time data processing and enterprise applications. This role combines software engineering with cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and platform operations. The ideal candidate has strong Python development experience, deep knowledge of AWS, and a passion for automation, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and building reliable cloud-native solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain cloud-native applications and platform services using Python.
  • Build, automate, and support CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable software delivery.
  • Design and deploy Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation.
  • Develop and support serverless solutions utilizing AWS services including Lambda, Kinesis, SNS, S3, and IAM.
  • Build reusable automation and tooling to improve platform reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Support production environments by troubleshooting complex cloud infrastructure and distributed systems issues.
  • Manage cloud infrastructure deployments, identity and access management, and platform operations across AWS environments.
  • Partner with software engineers, platform engineers, and data engineering teams to deliver scalable cloud solutions.
  • Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support modernization initiatives, including modularizing applications and implementing cloud-native architectures.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.
Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong Python development experience in enterprise environments, including object-oriented programming concepts.
  • Experience designing and deploying applications on AWS.
  • Strong understanding of AWS services including IAM, S3, Lambda, Kinesis, and SNS.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation.
  • Experience with modern DevOps practices including CI/CD, Docker, Git, automated testing, Test-Driven Development (TDD), and deployment automation.
  • Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, AWS CodeBuild, or similar tools.
  • Experience working with cloud-native and distributed systems.
  • Experience supporting production environments and troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues.
  • Strong understanding of software design principles, code quality, and system scalability.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with event-driven, real-time, or streaming architectures.
  • Experience with AWS services including IAM, Lambda, Kinesis, SNS, and S3.
  • Experience with Snowflake or modern cloud data platforms.
  • Experience managing data warehouse objects such as schemas, users, grants, roles, and databases.
  • Experience with Kafka or other streaming technologies.
