Solutions Engineer

Solutions Engineer

Bridgeway

Coraopolis, PA • On-site

Full-time

Job description

Position Overview

The Solutions Engineer is a rare, high-impact role for technologists who are equally energized by solving hard business problems and building the systems that fix them. Sitting within Bridgeway’s Advanced Technologies team, this individual goes deep with our operational business units to understand real, complex challenges, then comes back and builds the solutions from the ground up.

This isn’t a ticket-taking developer role or a requirements-gathering analyst role; it’s a full-ownership position that spans the entire solution lifecycle. You’ll design architectures, write production code, and ship working software directly into operations. AI-assisted development (including Claude Code) is a first-class tool here, not an afterthought, and this role sits at the center of Bridgeway’s broader AI transformation strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Business Engagement & Requirements

• Embed directly with operations, finance, billing, collections, and other business units to uncover inefficiencies, automation opportunities, and high-value technology gaps

• Run structured discovery to extract, document, and sharpen requirements, separating signal from noise and turning ambiguous asks into buildable specs

• Convert messy, real-world business problems into precise solution briefs: tightly scoped, measurable, and ready to build against

• Challenge assumptions and probe for root causes rather than accepting surface-level problem statements

Solution Design

• Architect end-to-end solutions spanning process, data pipelines, system integrations, and application layers, always choosing the right tool for the job rather than the familiar one

• Produce clean solution architecture documentation: data flows, API contracts, system interaction diagrams, and technical specs that others can build on

• Define and document KPIs and success metrics for every solution; establish baseline measurements and post-deployment tracking plans

• Support process and organizational design work when solutions require workflow redesign or role realignment

Development & Delivery

• Write production-ready code for internal tools, intelligent automations, system integrations, and AI-powered workflows, with a high bar for quality and maintainability

• Use Claude Code and AI-assisted development as a force multiplier: shipping faster, thinking bigger, and continuously raising what’s possible for a team your size

• Design and build integrations between core operational and enterprise platforms, billing systems, and external APIs, creating connected systems that eliminate manual handoffs

• Conduct unit testing, user acceptance testing coordination, and quality validation prior to deployment

• Manage deployment activities, post-launch monitoring, and iterative improvements

Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration

• Maintain clear, proactive communication with business sponsors throughout the project lifecycle

• Prepare solution documentation, user guides, and training materials as needed

• Present solution designs and status updates to leadership in plain business language, not technical jargon

• Work collaboratively within an agile/product-owner model, prioritizing, iterating, and shipping incrementally

AI & Continuous Improvement

• Identify and build AI-powered capabilities into solutions, spanning classification and prediction models, generative AI workflows, and autonomous agentic processes

• Stay on the cutting edge of AI tooling, LLM capabilities, agentic frameworks, and developer toolchains, and actively bring what you learn back into Bridgeway’s stack

• Contribute to the company-wide AI adoption program through knowledge sharing, documentation, and peer enablement

Qualifications

Required

• 3–7 years of experience in a solutions engineering, business systems, or software development role

• Demonstrated ability to independently gather requirements, design solutions, and deliver working software without heavy supervision

• Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (Python strongly preferred; JavaScript, SQL also valued)

• Strong analytical skills with experience defining KPIs, building data models, and interpreting operational data

• Excellent communication skills, equally comfortable presenting to a VP or pairing with a frontline operator

• Familiarity with API integration patterns (REST), relational databases, and data pipeline concepts

• Experience working in or with agile / product-oriented delivery teams

Preferred

• Active hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools: Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar; comfort with LLM APIs and prompt engineering is a strong plus

• Familiarity with RPA tooling (Power Automate, UiPath) and/or workflow automation platforms

• Experience with process mapping methodologies (L1–L3 process documentation)

• Background in or exposure to organizational design and change management
