Full Time Regular Virginia Beach, VA, US

8 days ago Requisition ID: 1684

Salary Range: $95,000.00 To $115,000.00 Annually

Position Overview

The Full-Stack Business Applications Developer works across C#/.NET, Python, and SQL to build and maintain the applications that run the business - adding features, fixing issues, and creating reports - while handling the operational and data investigations that keep our systems running smoothly. In a Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL environment, this role resolves technical and business-data issues, supports EDI and data-import pipelines, and continuously improves the internal applications our teams rely on. It combines hands-on application development with operational support and requires strong problem-solving skills across the full stack.

  • Application Feature Development: Design, build, and ship new features across the Blazor/MAUI client application and the C#/.NET API, following the established application architecture.
  • Maintaining Existing Codebases: Debug, refactor, and enhance the existing C#, Python, and SQL codebases to improve functionality, correctness, and performance.
  • Operational Investigations & Data Fixes: Investigate business-data issues - including pricing discrepancies, EDI and UPC problems, planogram classification, and promotion or import matching - using established procedures and appropriate change controls. Resolve data and code-level root causes, and clearly document or elevate complex issues when appropriate.
  • SQL & Reporting: Write, optimize, and debug SQL and stored procedures across Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL, and build reports end-to-end (stored procedure, report definition, deployment, and permissions).
  • EDI & Data Imports: Maintain the trading-partner EDI and vendor/customer import pipelines, and triage, reprocess, and reconcile failed or exception imports.
  • Reliability & Error Triage: Monitor client-error telemetry and back-end processes, prioritize and resolve production issues, and handle routine master-data and user-account maintenance.
  • Testing & Quality: Write automated tests at the appropriate layer (unit, integration, and end-to-end) and keep the test suites passing before changes ship.
  • Collaboration & Issue Resolution: Communicate directly with employees across departments to understand reported issues, gather context, reproduce problems, and carry them through resolution. Partner with the IT/IS Director and business teams to streamline processes and increase efficiency, escalating complex issues as needed.
Knowledge and Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of professional software development experience, with a focus on C#/.NET and relational databases.
  • Proficiency in C#/.NET (including an ORM such as Entity Framework Core) and working proficiency in Python.
  • Experience building web application interfaces with a component framework — Blazor/Razor preferred; React or Angular experience transfers.
  • Strong SQL skills across Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL, including writing and optimizing stored procedures.
  • A habit of writing automated tests and working within an established, version-controlled (Git) codebase.
  • Ability to read existing code and written documentation as the source of truth, and to handle multiple priorities on short notice with strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with every preferred technology is not required; demonstrated ability to learn unfamiliar systems is valued.

  • .NET MAUI or Blazor Hybrid application development.
  • Python data-pipeline or workflow orchestration (e.g., Apache Airflow).
  • EDI / X12 document exchange (e.g., 810, 850, 867, 875).
  • Experience in grocery, retail, distribution, or ERP systems — Microsoft Dynamics GP a plus.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure services (App Service, Key Vault, Blob Storage).
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Analytical, detail-oriented, and naturally inquisitive. Able to investigate and solve complex technical problems efficiently.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Thrives in dynamic environments with shifting priorities, works comfortably within an established and well-documented architecture, and remains calm under pressure while delivering results.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset. Able to work effectively with cross-functional teams and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-Motivation and Independence: Capable of working autonomously, taking initiative, and managing projects without needing constant supervision.
  • Technical Curiosity and Continuous Learning: Passionate about technology, with a drive to stay updated on emerging trends in cloud computing, development practices, and software architecture.
  • Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to writing code, debugging, optimizing systems, and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
Schedule
  • Reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
Physical Demands
  • Must use sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public using the telephone and personal contact as defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls.
  • Frequent sitting, walking, grasping, fingering, repetitive motion, and reaching. Occasional standing, bending, and crouching.
  • Ability to lift to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential tasks.
