Responsibilities

The Actuarial Analyst will support pricing, underwriting, and strategic initiatives for small commercial Property & Casualty insurance products. This role blends traditional actuarial analysis with modern data science, programming, and AI-enabled techniques. The analyst will work closely with actuarial, underwriting, product, claims, and technology teams to drive insight, improve risk selection, and enhance pricing sophistication. 

  • Perform actuarial analyses supporting pricing, profitability, and portfolio management for small-commercial P&C products. 
  • Analyze loss experience, trends, and rate adequacy using internal and external data sources. 
  • Develop and maintain rating indications, segmentation analyses, and predictive models where appropriate. 
  • Partner with underwriting and product teams to evaluate coverage, limits, deductibles, and pricing structures. 
  • Utilize Python and related libraries to automate analyses, build reproducible workflows, and improve analytical efficiency. 
  • Leverage AI tools and APIs (e.g., large language models, data enrichment services) to support research, automation, and insight generation. 
  • Assist with regulatory filings, documentation, and support materials as required. 
  • Support adhoc actuarial, financial, and strategic analyses for leadership. 
  • Contribute to data quality initiatives and collaborate with technology teams on data and analytics architecture. 
  • Communicate results clearly to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders. 

May perform other functions as assigned

Qualifications
  • 1-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Progress towards Casualty Actuarial Society designation is a plus.
  • Experience or strong interest in small-commercial Property & Casualty insurance. 
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis and automation (e.g., pandas, numpy, matplotlib, scikit-learn). 
  • Experience using or integrating AI tools and APIs for analysis, automation, or decision support. 
  • Solid understanding of actuarial pricing concepts, loss modeling, and insurance fundamentals. 
  • Strong analytical, problemsolving, and criticalthinking skills.
  • Ability to work with large, complex datasets from multiple sources. 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • High level of attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and ownership mindset

Education 

  • Four-year college degree, preferably in area of Actuarial, Mathematics or Statistics.
