Job description

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is seeking to hire a student assistant, in a learning capacity, under close supervision of a Senior Transportation Electrical Engineer, Branch Chief of the Transportation Management Systems Maintenance Electrical Engineering, in a learning capacity, the student assistant will assist with various electrical/computer engineering and computer science/mechanical/system engineering tasks.

These tasks include, but are not limited to, the analysis, testing, troubleshooting, monitoring, and restoration of electrical equipment to maintain existing Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). The student assistant may also assist in the development and testing of monitoring tools to assist field staff with monitoring health of ITS equipment by using high-level programming languages, such as HTML, JavaScript, and Python including documentation.
