Job description

Lume Consulting Group, a Sacramento-based IT consulting company, is seeking a skilled Data Scientist experienced in Data Cleaning - Proficiency in Stata and Python is required (Remote/Part-time)

  • Master’s level training or equivalent experience in survey methodology, applied statistical analysis, data science/analytics, or computational social science.
  • Experience working with demographic, workforce, and/or business survey data.
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: R, Python, or Stata.
  • Experience transforming raw survey data into a usable format for statistical and/or demographic analysis.
  • Experience with all aspects of data management, including merging, cleaning, transforming, harmonizing, verifying, and publishing data for analysis.
  • Experience evaluating data quality and verifying the validity of data.
  • Experience creating, managing, and maintaining databases, data dictionaries, and codebooks.
  • Experience applying disclosure avoidance techniques (e.g., evaluating risk of disclosure, identifying techniques to protect data confidentiality, etc.) to confidential data and preparing public data products.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including strong technical writing skills.
  • Ability to identify data/analytic needs, creatively problem-solve, and provide expert recommendations to clients.
