Job Description:
Cloud Developer
Role Summary
The Cloud Developer role is a senior individual contributor responsible for designing, developing, and supporting cloud-based applications within HPE's cloud portfolio. This role emphasizes hands-on coding, end-to-end feature ownership, and the ability to operate independently while providing technical guidance to peers when needed.
This is an onsite role in Roseville, CA, working closely with a local engineering team on production cloud systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and support cloud-based software solutions
  • Own features end-to-end, including investigation, design, implementation, release, and post-release defect resolution
  • Translate business and product requirements into technical designs and executable engineering tasks
  • Contribute to solution design and participate in code and design reviews
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners including product managers and other engineering teams
  • Participate in agile development practices (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives)
  • Act as an informal technical lead when needed by providing guidance, task ownership, and mentoring
  • Identify risks, troubleshoot production issues, and drive continuous improvements

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Typically 7-10+ years of professional software development experience

Required Skills
  • Strong hands-on programming experience in:
    • Go (Golang) and/or Python
  • Experience developing and supporting cloud-based applications
  • Understanding of microservice architectures and cloud-native development
  • Experience working in containerized environments (e.g., Kubernetes)
  • Experience with testing methodologies, debugging, and writing test plans or scripts
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts and design decisions

Preferred Skills
  • Networking fundamentals or exposure (not required; can be learned on the job)
  • Experience supporting production systems and resolving customer-reported issues
  • Prior experience mentoring junior engineers or providing technical guidance
