Job description

Position Overview

Vision IT is seeking an Electronic Information Systems Software Developer to support Department of Defense operations at Los Angeles Air Force Base. This role is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining secure software solutions that support mission-critical electronic information systems.

The Software Developer will work within a secure DoD environment to build and enhance applications, automate processes, and support system integrations while ensuring compliance with cybersecurity and development standards.

(This Position is Contingent Upon Award)

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain software applications supporting electronic information systems
  • Develop secure, efficient, and scalable code using modern programming languages and frameworks
  • Support integration of applications with enterprise systems, databases, and APIs
  • Perform software testing, debugging, and performance optimization
  • Develop scripts and automation tools to improve system efficiency and operational workflows
  • Ensure software solutions comply with DoD cybersecurity requirements, STIGs, and RMF controls
  • Collaborate with systems administrators, engineers, and cybersecurity personnel to support mission requirements
  • Maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, code documentation, and user guides
  • Support software deployment, configuration management, and version control processes
  • Participate in code reviews and follow secure software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices
Required Qualifications
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher (must be current and transferable)
  • CompTIA Security+ certification (required and compliant with DoD 8570/8140)
  • Experience in software development in enterprise or DoD environments
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python, JavaScript)
  • Experience with web services, APIs, and database integration
  • Understanding of secure coding practices and software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity requirements, including RMF and STIGs
  • Ability to work onsite full-time at Los Angeles Air Force Base
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Air Force or Space Force software development environments
  • Familiarity with Agile or DevSecOps methodologies
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, Azure DevOps)
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or hybrid environments)
  • Experience with automation/scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.)
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Additional certifications such as CySA+, CASP+, or cloud certifications
