Job description

Position Title: Java SDET Lead
Location: Dallas, TX - Day 1 Onsite
Role Summary:
We are looking for a Java SDET Lead with strong backend automation and development-level testing ownership. This is an onsite role supporting data ingestion, data pipelines, and messaging platforms in a capital markets environment.
Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Own and be accountable for testing quality, automation delivery, and functionality
  • Perform backend API automation testing using REST Assured, Java, and BDD (Cucumber)
  • Work as a developer with testing ownership mindset
  • Support teams handling Data Ingestion, Data Pipelines, and Pub/Sub Messaging Event Hubs
  • Develop and test applications built using Java Spring Boot
  • Work with NoSQL databases and messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or MQ
  • Ensure cloud production readiness, follow Twelve-Factor App principles, and support messaging platform cloud migration
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Application Development, DevOps, and Architecture teams
  • Enhance automation frameworks to support multi-environment testing
  • Build automated component and service-level tests
  • Maintain test documentation, tools, and automation frameworks
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Test Automation Engineers
  • Support enterprise-wide test engineering initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong experience in Backend/API automation testing
  • Hands-on expertise with:
    • REST APIs, REST Assured
    • Java (mandatory); exposure to .NET / Python is a plus
    • BDD frameworks - Cucumber
    • TestNG / JUnit
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in Java development or SDET/Test Automation
  • Experience testing services, APIs, and layered architectures
  • Ability to programmatically test and debug own code
  • Solid understanding of design patterns, data structures, and layered architecture
  • Experience with CI/CD tools: Jenkins, Git, Maven
  • Knowledge of performance testing tools such as JMeter
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future
Nice-to-Have Skills:
  • Java Certification (strong plus)
  • AWS Cloud experience
  • Experience working in Capital Markets / Banking environments
