Job description

Labcorp is seeking a Network Automation and Tools Engineer for a dynamic team in Durham or Burlington, NC.

Work Schedule:This is a fulltime, exempt (salaried) position assigned to a First Shift schedule, with standard business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in your local time zone.Business needs may occasionally require flexibility in work hours, including earlier, later, or additional hours, with reasonable notice provided when possible.

Applicants who live within 35 miles of either the Burlington, NC or Durham, NC location will follow a hybrid schedule. This schedule includes a minimum of three in-office days per week at an assigned location, either Burlington or Durham, supporting both collaboration and flexibility.

Network Automation and Tools Engineer - Specialty in Tools and Network Automation

The Network Automation and Tools Engineer plays a critical role in implementing modern and innovative network automation solutions for our internal teams. This is a highly technical role that is responsible for implementing Network to Code solutions that drive positive business outcomes for our users. We are looking for candidates that thrive on technological challenges and can work in a dynamic environment, providing automated solutions while integrating our suite of tools.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain network automation and tooling solutions to improve operational efficiency in alignment with our business AI strategy

  • Develop and integrate APIs with internal platforms, CMDBs, and sourceoftruth systems

  • Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines for network automation workflows

  • Collaborate with network engineering, infrastructure, and operations teams to translate requirements into automated solutions

  • Troubleshoot, enhance, and maintain automation platforms in Linux environments

  • Build Network as Code solutions using Python and automation frameworks

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 8 or more years' of experience in network automation, software development, or related engineering roles

  • 5 or more years' of experience programming in Python for automation or backend development

  • 2 or more years' experience working with APIs and integrating systems programmatically

  • 2 or more years' handson experience operating in Linux environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 or more years' experience with JavaScript, Ansible, or similar automation tools

  • 2 or more years' experience with Docker, virtual environments, and containerized workflows

  • 2 or more years' experience with configuration templating tools such as Jinja or Velocity

  • 3 or more years' experience with enterprise networking hardware (switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers)

  • CCNA or higher certification

Additional Job Standards:

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical topics to both technical and nontechnical audiences

  • Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure or network automation

  • Working knowledge of network orchestration tools and sourceoftruth / CMDB platforms

  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with evolving requirements
