The Mechanical Engineer role is based in Waukegan, IL at Yaskawa’s Headquarters facility, provides high quality technical expertise to assist fellow YAI engineers at our Production facilities in Buffalo Grove, IL (in the future, in Franklin, WI) and customers.  The ideal candidate will display a passion for mechanical design and problem solving, a driven attitude and capacity toward learning and mastering motion technology with engineering knowledge acquired at university or through professional experience.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Learn and troubleshoot technical problems in all phases of development from design to manufacturing of custom mechanical systems for the semiconductor and various other industries.
  • Support technical liaison responsibilities between the design (located in Waukegan, IL) and production teams (located in Buffalo Grove, IL). 
  • Assist with assembly and testing prototypes, ensuring quality designs and system performance.
  • With support, document and update assembly/test procedures and hand off to production.
  • Provide customer support of new product introductions. May require occasional travel to customer locations.
  • Utilize Yaskawa and third party software to control electromechanical systems.
  • Apply advanced theories, methods, ingenuity and research techniques to the investigation and solution of complex technical problems.

Requirements:

  • BS in mechanical engineering, or equivalent related work experience.
  • Minimum of three years of experience with CAD or 3D modeling (preferably Solidworks) and Matlab. Experience with Visual Basic, C, and/or Python preferred.
  • Recent college graduates with a concentration in mechatronics and a strong GPA are also encouraged to apply; include your experience with a robotics team, internship or project work in industrial motion control and servo system technology or related fields.
  • Knowledge of programmable controls, digital communications, or microprocessors is desirable.
  • Self-starter with good work ethic in learning and growing within the company.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time and interface with experts from all technical fields.
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal abilities, including presentation skills, highly organized and strong analytical skills.
