Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in need of a Remote AI/LLM Engineer.
Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services that support AI-enabled products and platform capabilities
* Build and enhance internal frameworks for LLM orchestration, prompt lifecycle management, and autonomous agent workflows
* Architect systems that manage conversational context, state persistence, AI reasoning workflows, and decision-making processes
* Develop robust APIs and data models that enable seamless integration of AI services across multiple applications
* Ensure AI services meet production requirements for performance, reliability, observability, scalability, and cost optimization
* Improve and modernize existing AI infrastructure to support increased usage and evolving business needs
* Collaborate with engineering, product, and platform teams to embed AI capabilities into customer-facing and internal solutions
* Define and promote reusable architectural patterns, shared services, and best practices for AI development
* Lead technical discussions, design reviews, and implementation planning efforts
* Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous learning
* Support recruiting efforts through candidate evaluation and technical interviewing
* Identify process improvements and contribute to increased team effectiveness and engineering efficiency
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; Equivalent experience considered
* 3+ years of professional software engineering experience in an Agile development environment
* Professional experience designing, deploying, and supporting AI-powered solutions in production
* Demonstrated experience building or integrating LLM-based capabilities into commercial software products
* Strong understanding of LLM architecture, including context management, orchestration strategies, evaluation methodologies, and prompt engineering
* Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, agent frameworks, conversational AI systems, or intelligent workflow automation
* Proficiency in Python and modern software development practices
* Experience working with backend frameworks such as Django, Flask, FastAPI, or similar technologies
* Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and distributed services
* Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
* Experience implementing monitoring, alerting, logging, and observability practices for production systems
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
* Ability to influence technical decisions through collaboration, consensus building, and leadership
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
