Job description

GeoSystems Analysis, Inc., a Trinity Consultants team, is seeking an Environmental Scientist/Hydrogeologist to join our growing team in the southwest. The Environmental Scientist/Hydrogeologist supports groundwater, surface water, soil, and ecological science projects for GeoSystems Analysis, Inc. This position provides hands-on experience conducting field investigations, surface water, groundwater and vadose zone studies, numerical modeling, and technical analysis. This role works closely with small technical teams to design and implement studies related primarily to surface and groundwater resources, habitat restoration, and mine reclamation. While ideally based in Tucson, AZ, candidates that are local to our other Trinity offices in the West are encouraged to apply.

What will I be doing?

  • Apply knowledge of hydrologic processes to describe water movement across the land surface, vadose zone, and groundwater.
  • Perform numerical modeling for surface water, groundwater and unsaturated flow.
  • Conduct fieldwork including soil and drillhole sampling, geologic logging, well completion, and installation/monitoring of groundwater and vadose zone instruments.
  • Collect and analyze surface water and groundwater samples.
  • Manage field investigations and monitoring, including soil and water sampling, geologic logging, and installation of monitoring instruments.
  • Interpret data to assess and predict land use impacts on soil and groundwater quality and resource availability.
  • Collaborate with hydrogeologists, hydrologists, ecologists, engineers, and other environmental professionals.
  • Prepare clear, concise technical reports for clients.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines during all activities.

What qualifications are required for this role?

  • Bachelor's degree in a natural resources sciences field related to water resources required. Master's degree is preferred.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of progressive experience in a similar role and in a consulting environment.
  • Preferred experience in GIS analysis, programming (Python), numerical modeling, field data collection, and data analysis/report writing.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites in the Western U.S. and/or internationally.

The salary range for this position is $68,000 - $85,000 per year. In addition, Geosystems Analysis has a discretionary bonus program that considers business profitability and individual performance.
