Job description

Data Systems/Systems Administrator - II
Location: Chandler, AZ (100% onsite)

Contract Duration: 1 year (potential for up to 18 months)

Contract Type: W2 through Staffing Supplier

Hours: Mon-Fri 8a-5p

Pay Rate: $37/hr

Requirements:

  • Linux System Administration (~2-3 yrs experience)
  • Ubuntu 22.04 or newer or Red Hat Linux 9.0 or newer.
  • Understanding of TCP-IP networks and basic routers. (~1-3 years' experience)
  • We will be using Cisco/Arista network switches.
  • We use firewalls to protect and isolate projects.
  • Setting up IP addresses, network routes, and firewall rules is required.
  • Actually built high-performance computer systems from parts (~2 years)
  • Either in a data center using Xeon servers or gaming systems using custom components.
  • We will be installing network, storage and accelerator cards and swapping CPUs in systems as projects change.
  • Python or Bash scripting for automating installation tasks is desired
  • Ability to lift servers and do wiring in a rack. ~30-35 lbs max per server
  • Possibly some team lifts of dense servers.
  • Ability to climb short step-ladders when required to reach systems in the rack.
  • Work efficiently and accurately.
  • We need to pay attention to cable connections and air circulation to prevent system performance issues during benchmarks.
  • Need to keep internal and external lab segments isolated from each other.
  • Follow safety and installation guidelines in a shared lab network environment where multiple teams exist.
  • Coordinate installation and repairs to minimize impact to running projects and customer demos.
  • Follow lab standards.
  • Good organizational and communications skills including:
  • Inventory management
  • Purchase tracking spreadsheets
  • Working with suppliers to get quotes, track the purchases, label the equipment, and ensuring it gets added to inventory.
  • Submitting Purchase Requisitions

*This is not a WFH/remote role. 8-5 in the lab most days is required to make physical changes, repairs, and carry out inventory management activities.

*Minimum High school diploma / GED required

Wireless-Core and Network Division projects support 5G-Core and Cable (Telco) segments within the Data Center Group. We work directly with external customers and partners in one half of the lab, and internal designers and developers in the other half. We help internal Intel teams doing similar projects. Our projects lead to joint technology demos and proof-of-concepts for customers and trade-shows that combine platforms and software from these multiple sources to show what can be done with our products. This role is to manage/setup the systems and network infrastructure required for local and remote engineering teams to create these projects. We setup clusters of systems that need identical configs to take measurements for marketing collateral.
