Python Flask Internship information

What is a Python Flask internship?

A Python Flask internship is a temporary position designed to give students or aspiring developers hands-on experience working with the Flask web framework in Python. Interns typically assist with building, testing, and maintaining web applications using Flask, learning about backend development, REST APIs, and software best practices. This internship helps individuals gain practical skills in Python programming, web frameworks, and collaborative development environments. It is ideal for those looking to start a career in web development or backend engineering.

What types of projects can I expect to work on during a Python Flask internship?

During a Python Flask internship, you will typically work on web-based projects such as building RESTful APIs, developing backend functionality for web applications, and integrating third-party services. Interns often collaborate with experienced developers, participate in code reviews, and contribute to both new and existing projects. You may also gain exposure to database management, deployment processes, and using tools like Git for version control. This hands-on experience is designed to strengthen your programming skills and introduce you to industry best practices.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Python Flask intern?

To thrive as a Python Flask Intern, you need a strong understanding of Python programming, web development fundamentals, and familiarity with the Flask framework, typically demonstrated through coursework or personal projects. Experience with version control systems like Git, basic knowledge of databases (such as SQLite or PostgreSQL), and awareness of RESTful API development are often required. Strong problem-solving skills, eagerness to learn, and effective communication help interns collaborate with team members and adapt in a fast-paced environment. These skills are essential for contributing to real-world projects, gaining practical experience, and building a foundation for a successful software development career.

Software Developer II

The Flyover

Location: Fort Collins, CO (On-Site)

Salary: $75,000 to $90,000 annually

About Us

The Flyover is one of the fastest-growing newsletter media companies in the country, delivering unbiased news to millions of readers every day. Behind that reach is a technology team that builds and owns the tools, pipelines, and internal systems that keep the whole operation running. We prioritize building custom solutions from the ground up, which gives our developers real ownership and a steady stream of things to learn.

Position Overview

We are hiring a Software Developer to support our teams by building and maintaining the internal tools they rely on every day. This is a hands-on role for someone early in their career who wants to write real code that real people use, learn how a live data pipeline actually works, and grow alongside an experienced technology team.

You will not be sitting on the sidelines. From your first weeks, you will be shipping tooling, fixing real problems in our ETL pipeline, and adding features that make other teams faster. It is a great role for someone who learns by doing and wants mentorship while they do it.

Key Responsibilities

•      Build tooling for teams: Work with editorial, audience, sales, and operations teams to build the internal tools that make their work faster and more reliable.

•      Maintain the ETL pipeline: Troubleshoot, monitor, and maintain the data pipeline that powers our daily operations, keeping it running smoothly and fixing issues as they come up.

•      Extend existing tools: Add features and improvements to the tools and systems we already run, based on what teams need.

•      Collaborate across the company: Partner with non-technical teammates to understand their problems and translate them into working solutions.

•      Write clean code and keep learning: Produce maintainable, well-organized code and continuously build your skills with support from senior engineers.

QualificationsRequired

•      2 to 5 years of professional software development experience, or equivalent project, internship, or bootcamp experience.

•      Working knowledge of Python.

•      Familiarity with SQL and relational databases.

•      A genuine desire to learn, a collaborative mindset, and comfort asking questions.

•      Strong problem-solving instincts.

Nice to Have

•      Exposure to web frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask.

•      Any experience with ETL or data pipelines.

•      Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms.

•      Understanding of asynchronous programming.

Why Join Us

•      Write code that real teams use from your very first weeks.

•      Learn how a live, production data pipeline works from the people who built it.

•      Be supported by an experienced technology team invested in your growth.

•      Join a fast-growing company with a massive and expanding audience.

•      Competitive salary plus health, dental, and vision insurance paid 100% by the company.

•      Paid time off, holidays, and support for professional development.

If you are early in your development career and want to learn fast, ship real work, and grow with a strong team, we would love to hear from you.
