Join HPE's team and help shape the virtualization stack powering hybrid cloud solutions for the world's largest enterprises. As a Cloud Developer, you won't just manage VMs - you'll scale, optimize, and evolve the platform itself. Through high-performance, scalable, and fault-tolerant virtual compute, network and storage, your work will directly influence the direction of HPE's virtualization software and solutions, used across global enterprise environments.

Essential Functions:

  • You will be responsible for software development of storage and networking capabilities for virtualization infrastructure.
  • You will design, implement, monitor, and troubleshoot software systems.
  • You will analyze feature specifications, deliver and integrate features, and develop test plans and documentation with senior engineers' guidance.
  • You will partner with architects and engineering leadership to develop and deliver competitive roadmaps.
  • You will assist customer issues as needed, provide RCA insights and help ensure technical standards and documentation requirements are met.
  • You will stay updated on industry trends and technology changes to help drive innovation into the business.
  • You will collaborate with sales, engineering, and operational teams to understand customer needs and recommend solutions.
  • You will learn about operational challenges faced by engineering teams and assist in developing risk-mitigating strategies to address them.

About You:

  • You have expertise in Java, Groovy, C++, and/or other object-oriented languages. Ruby or Python experience is a plus.
  • You have experience in virtualization or container infrastructure technologies such as KVM, libvirt, QEMU, Kubernetes, Docker and Podman.
  • You have experience developing for compute, storage or networking products and solutions.
  • You have experience developing for and debugging in Linux kernel/OS environments.
  • You have experience with storage infrastructure technologies such as Ceph, LVM, NFS, iSCSI, FC, NVMeoF, GFS2 or similar.
  • You are familiar with build tools (e.g., Maven, Gradle), version control systems (e.g., Git), and CI/CD pipelines.
  • You have eagerness to learn and apply cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
  • You have strong communication skills and a willingness to listen and learn from more experienced engineers, architects, and senior leaders.
  • You take ownership of projects and mistakes, possess problem-solving skills, and have tremendous self-drive.
  • You thrive in Agile-based software development lifecycles with dynamic roadmaps and iterative delivery.
  • You hold yourself and others accountable to high standards of software quality and promote shift-left improvements accordingly.
  • You know distributed system architecture and clustering design principles.

Required education and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ Years of experience developing software and delivering solutions at scale.

  • Pursuing or completed a Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
