Overview

Seeking an experienced Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM) Developer to provide Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) support to U.S. Department of Defense programs. The selected candidate will design, develop, integrate, and sustain AFSIM-based capabilities while applying secure software lifecycle practices validated by an active CSSLP certification in support of DoD 8140/8570 requirements.


What will you do?

· Design, develop, and integrate AFSIM models, components, and scenarios to support analysis of engagement-, mission-, and campaign-level concepts for government customers.

· Implement secure software lifecycle practices (requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, maintenance) consistent with CSSLP domains and DoD cybersecurity policies.

· Develop and maintain C++-based AFSIM plug-ins, simulation entities, behaviors, and interfaces to external tools and data sources.

· Apply scripting (e.g., AFSIM’s script environment, Python/Lua where appropriate) to configure scenarios, behaviors, and batch runs for government analysis tasks.

· Conduct code reviews, static analysis, and vulnerability remediation to ensure compliance with secure coding standards and program security requirements.

· Support configuration management, CI/CD pipelines, and test automation for AFSIM capabilities delivered under government contracts.

· Collaborate with government engineers, analysts, and other contractors to capture requirements, refine use cases, and translate them into verified, validated simulation capabilities.

· Prepare and deliver technical documentation, test reports, user guides, and briefing materials in accordance with contract deliverable requirements (CDRLs).

· Provide technical input to proposals, estimates, and design reviews for current and future MS&A task orders.

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related technical discipline.

· 3–5+ years of professional software development experience, including C++ and object-oriented design on Windows or Linux.

· 2+ years of direct experience developing, integrating, or applying AFSIM in support of DoD or IC programs (e.g., scenario development, plugin development, operational analysis).

· Active Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP) certification recognized under DoD 8140/8570.

· Experience applying secure coding practices, vulnerability mitigation, and software assurance concepts across the software development lifecycle.

· Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity and risk management processes (e.g., RMF, DoDD 8140/8570 role-based certification requirements).

· Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance; current active Secret or higher strongly preferred.

Desired Qualifications

· Active Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance.

· Experience supporting Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), or other acquisition and S&T organizations in the Dayton/Beavercreek area.

· Experience with MS&A of air, space, or multi-domain operations, electronic warfare, or command and control systems.

· Experience with Python or other scripting languages for data processing, automation, and tool integration.

· Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, Git-based workflows, and modern CI/CD tools used in DoD environments.

· Prior experience working as a government contractor on cost-type or CPFF contracts, including adherence to CDRLs and program processes.

Work Environment and Travel

· Position is primarily on-site at government or contractor facilities in the Beavercreek/Dayton, OH area, with limited telework as authorized by the customer.
