Job description

We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service, subsidiaries of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Renewables Data Analytics intern starting May/June 2027. This position can be located in Green Bay, Wisconsin or Milwaukee, Wisconsin locations. This position offers flexibility for a hybrid work arrangement (remote/in-office). The starting hourly rate for this position is $23.10 with paid company holidays. This internship is full-time during the Summer of 2027 with potential to work part-time during the fall.

Job Summary

The Renewables Analytics team is focused on enabling data-based decision making through clear metrics, monitoring, and robust data analytics for a large operating fleet of renewable energy projects. As an intern you will be involved in day-to-day support, business requirement gathering, data preparation, data analysis, data visualization and other activities including attending and participating in various meetings as part of the team.

Job Responsibilities

   Develop architecture & maintain databases of critical equipment meta data
•    Manage data flows and data pipelines that feed real-time predictive models and other data tools
•    Work closely with Renewables team, business & data analysts, and IT support groups to solve data access, architecture, and process needs
•    Use available data to review the performance and reliability of wind / solar / battery storage assets
•    Collaborate with Renewables team to design and deploy analytics and KPI reporting at a fleet level
•    Perform ad hoc investigations of emergent equipment issues
•    Manage the ETL process for transforming operational SCADA data into aggregated data repositories
•    Empower subject matter experts with self-service access to raw and aggregated data
•    Alternate between remote and office work as needed (hybrid setting) 
•    Travel to generation sites in remote locations in WI, MI, MN, IA, IL, or IN

Minimum Qualifications

•    High School Diploma, GED, or HSED 
•    Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering or related degree with a graduation date after June 2027
•    Minimum GPA of 2.8 
•    Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications

•    Experience writing code, programs, and/or algorithms 
•    Experience with data mining, analysis, engineering, and/or visualization
•    SQL (T-SQL, MySQL, Athena), VBA, API, Python/R, and Power BI
•    DevOps and GitHub experience 
•    Renewable energy technology, especially wind, solar, and energy storage experience
•    Strong initiative, collaborative, prioritization, critical thinking skills and time management skills

Pay Range Minimum:  $23.10

Pay Range Maximum:  $27.55

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs.  At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
