The OptumServe Enterprise Monitoring team is seeking a Senior Observability Engineer to lead the design, automation, and operational excellence of our enterprise observability platforms. This role is heavily focused on Dynatrace administration, Python development, CI/CD engineering, and Observability-as-Code practices supporting mission-critical applications across on-premises, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with deep experience building scalable observability solutions, automating platform operations, developing monitoring integrations, and enabling DevOps teams through self-service monitoring capabilities.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Dynatrace Platform Engineering
    • Serve as the primary technical SME for Dynatrace Managed and Dynatrace SaaS environments
    • Design, implement, and maintain Dynatrace monitoring standards, management zones, alerting strategies, tagging frameworks, and service ownership models
    • Configure and optimize OneAgent, ActiveGate, Distributed Tracing, RUM, Synthetic Monitoring, Davis AI, and Automation Workflows
    • Develop enterprise observability standards and governance practices
  • Python Development & Automation
    • Develop Python-based automation solutions to streamline observability operations and platform administration
    • Build integrations leveraging Dynatrace APIs, REST APIs, webhooks, and cloud-native services
    • Create automated onboarding, validation, compliance, reporting, and remediation capabilities
    • Design self-healing workflows and automated operational runbooks
  • CI/CD & Observability as Code
    • Implement and support Observability-as-Code using Dynatrace Monaco, Terraform, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, and/or Jenkins
    • Build automated deployment pipelines for Dynatrace configurations, dashboards, alerting profiles, SLOs, and management zones
    • Integrate monitoring validation into software delivery pipelines and create automated quality gates

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of hands-on Dynatrace engineering experience
  • 5 years supporting enterprise observability, monitoring, or SRE platforms
  • 3 years developing production-grade Python automation solutions
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and/or Ansible
  • Experience utilizing Dynatrace APIs and configuration automation
  • Solid understanding of distributed tracing, OpenTelemetry, metrics, logs, events, and reliability engineering practices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Dynatrace Professional or Advanced Certification

  • Experience with Elasticsearch, Grafana, Prometheus, Fluent Bit, and OpenTelemetry
  • Experience supporting FedRAMP High or government-regulated environments


Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
