Instead of working in the office, remote Python developers work from home or another location outside of the office with internet connectivity. Remote Python developers often work on server-side projects related to databases, web servers, and big data manipulation. Your responsibilities include coding specific software functions, testing the format, and debugging issues. Depending on the project, you may start from scratch and build a brand new application, add features to the company's current software, or streamline existing code within the applications used throughout the company. Remote Python developers may work on the staff of an organization or be independent contractors with many different clients.

To thrive as a Python Developer in a remote role, you need strong programming skills in Python, a solid understanding of software development principles, and typically a degree in computer science or related experience. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, frameworks such as Django or Flask, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS or Azure) is commonly required. Excellent problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and clear written communication help remote Python developers excel in distributed teams. These skills ensure efficient code delivery, robust collaboration, and the ability to independently tackle complex projects from anywhere.

What are some common challenges faced by remote Python Developers, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Python Developers often face challenges related to communication, collaboration, and staying aligned with team goals due to physical distance. To address these issues, it's important to establish clear communication channels, actively participate in daily stand-ups or sync meetings, and utilize project management tools. Regular code reviews and pair programming sessions can also help maintain code quality and foster teamwork. Additionally, setting up a dedicated and distraction-free workspace at home can significantly boost productivity.

  • Support cloud-based data engineering solutions in Azure, with exposure to AWS Athena, Lambda, Glue, and batch compute jobs as a plus
  • Help improve engineering standards, tooling, and best practices across the data environment
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment where priorities may evolve and pragmatic problem-solving is important
  • Apply sound engineering judgment to balance speed, scale, and long-term platform health
  • Explore and adopt modern productivity tools, including AI-assisted development tools, where they improve engineering effectiveness
What We re Looking For
  • 10+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer or in a closely related software/data engineering role

  • Willingness and ability to work with Bash
  • Cloud experience in Azure
  • Familiarity with AWS Athena and compute services such as batch jobs, Lambda, and Glue is a plus
  • Strong track record of designing systems with a focus on data quality and scalability
  • Experience working effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience in healthcare or another highly regulated industry
  • Strong collaboration skills and a practical, team-oriented approach
  • Interest in or experience using AI productivity tools in engineering workflows
What Makes Your Candidacy Stand Out
  • Experience building in startup or early-stage environments
  • Strong engineering habits and a pragmatic approach to solving ambiguous problems
