Job description

About Anderson Rohr Engineering

Anderson Rohr Engineering is a nationally licensed structural engineering firm working across ground-up retail, hospitality, commercial, and residential construction, as well as renovations to existing buildings. Our goal is to grow into a national structural engineering powerhouse, and we are building the team to do it.

Engineers at ARE have the opportunity to manage as much of their projects as they prefer, from proposal and design through construction administration. We give our engineers real autonomy and expect them to take pride in their work, deliver on time, and coordinate cleanly with the architect, contractor, and owner. We also maintain an in-office suite of custom web-based calculators that we continue to expand.

About the Role

We are hiring a mid-level structural engineer to take on their own caseload of projects. You will lead design on ground-up and renovation work across retail, hospitality, commercial, and residential sectors, work directly with the architect and owner from kickoff through construction administration, produce drawings and stamped calculations, and coordinate with our drafting and EIT staff.

This is a fully remote position open to candidates anywhere in the continental U.S. You must be responsive and available during normal business hours. Travel for site visits and owner meetings is paid and typically light.

What You Will Do

  • Lead structural design on ground-up and renovation projects across retail, hospitality, commercial, and residential sectors
  • Produce drawings, calculations, and stamped deliverables for review and issue
  • Coordinate directly with architects, contractors, owners, and AHJs
  • Respond to RFIs, mark up shop drawings, and resolve field issues during construction
  • Use and contribute to ARE's in-house custom web calculation suite and project workflows
  • Mentor EITs and drafters
  • Manage as much of your projects as you prefer, with autonomy paired with pride of ownership, on-time delivery, and clean coordination

What You Bring (Required)

  • B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • 3 to 7 years of structural design experience in a U.S. consulting practice
  • P.E. license in at least one U.S. state, or actively sitting for the PE within 12 months
  • Working command of IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 360, ACI 318, NDS, and TMS 402
  • Comfortable designing in wood, steel, concrete, and masonry
  • Proficient with Revit, RISA-3D, RISA Floor, RISA Foundation, Enercalc, and Excel; comfortable working in custom web-based calculation tools
  • Clear, direct written communication
  • Self-directed work habits, responsive and available during normal business hours
  • U.S. work authorization (we are not sponsoring visas for this role)

Bonus Points

  • Active NCEES record / multi-state P.E. comity
  • Retail, hospitality, or quick-service restaurant program experience
  • Existing-structure renovation, assessment, or retrofit experience
  • Bluebeam Studio fluency
  • Python, JavaScript, or spreadsheet-modeling background

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $80,000 to $110,000 base, depending on experience and licensure
  • Performance bonus tied to firm and individual performance
  • Monthly health care stipend toward medical coverage
  • Generous PTO plus federal holidays
  • ARE pays the cost of engineering license renewals
  • Firm-provided laptop, monitors, and home-office setup
  • Fully remote; responsive during normal business hours; light travel paid

How to Apply
