Job description

Compensation: $150,000-$180,000 per year
Location: Omaha, NE โ€“ Hybrid or United States โ€“ Remote

The job:
As a Senior Cloud Security Engineer at Buildertrend, youโ€™ll help protect the systems that keep construction businesses running smoothly every day. Your work will strengthen the security, reliability, and scalability of our cloud infrastructure, giving builders confidence that their data, workflows, and customer communications are protected. Youโ€™ll influence how security is built into our platform from the ground up, partnering with engineering and architecture teams to reduce risk while supporting innovation.

What you will do:

  • Lead the design and management of cloud security controls across Google Cloud environments.

  • Conduct security assessments to identify vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and compliance gaps, then drive remediation efforts.

  • Develop and maintain cloud security policies, standards, and best practices aligned with frameworks such as NIST and SOC 2.

  • Partner with cloud engineering, site reliability engineering, and product engineering teams to implement secure infrastructure and network changes.

  • Support DevOps and infrastructure teams with secure deployment practices, automation, and cloud security tooling.

  • Monitor network activity and security events, investigate threats, and respond to incidents to maintain platform integrity.

  • Mentor team members and share guidance on cloud security strategy, tooling, and emerging risks.

Who you are and what you need:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in computer science, information security, or a related field required.

  • 10+ years of experience in security engineering or cloud engineering, with a focus on cloud and network security required.

  • Hands-on experience securing Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments required.

  • CCSP or CSA certification is a plus!

  • Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts, including virtual networking, routing, subnetting, and access controls.

  • Experience conducting cloud security audits, assessments, and remediation planning.

  • Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks such as NIST, CCM, and SOC 2.

  • Experience with scripting and infrastructure automation tools such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Terraform.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences.

  • Experience leading projects, mentoring teammates, and influencing security decisions across teams.
