Job Overview:
  • Location: Immerse yourself in our innovative culture! This role requires a commitment of 4 days in-office per week at our facility in Garden Grove, CA as well as full-time hours (40 hours a week).
  • Duration: 11-14 weeks (Sep 8 to Dec 11 OR Sep 21 to Dec 4)
  • Relocation Support: A $1,000 relocation stipend is available for interns currently residing more than 50 miles from Garden Grove, CA.
  • Compensation: Earn an hourly rate of $25-35 USD per hour.
Job Summary:
We are currently seeking an ambitious engineering student to join our Component Test Engineering team. As an intern, you will have various opportunities to contribute to developing and validating vehicle components. You will work closely with other test engineers, product design release engineers, and manufacturing engineers to ensure that in-house and supplier-sourced components perform reliably to design specifications. Additionally, this test engineering intern will be closely involved in the design and development of internal testing infrastructure to serve the needs of the company.
What You'll Do:
  • Assist in testing automotive components for performance, durability, and reliability under various conditions.
  • Set up, operate, and monitor test equipment to conduct tests on mechanical, electrical, and thermal components.
  • Collect and analyze test data to evaluate the functionality and quality of components.
  • Support the development of test procedures by preparing test plans and ensuring proper test execution.
  • Document test results, observations, and any deviations from expected performance, providing detailed reports for senior engineers.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (design, manufacturing, and quality) to communicate test outcomes and suggest improvements.
  • Maintain test equipment and ensure proper calibration and functionality.
  • Adhere to safety standards and protocols when operating in the test lab environment.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss test results and project updates.
  • Assist in troubleshooting issues and/or root-cause analysis of test failures encountered during testing and provide potential solutions or workarounds.
Required Skills:
  • Enrolled in Bachelor's degree program or greater in electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, or related engineering field
  • Familiarity with developing schematics, testing & data acquisition hardware, and creating test scripts for various electrical, mechanical/structural, and thermal tests
  • Understanding of 2D drawing layout and GD&T
  • Motivation to learn on the job and take ownership of a project; with guidance
  • Work authorized in the United States OR ability to obtain necessary work visa
Desired Skills:
  • Ability to create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using CATIA 3DExperience
  • Understanding of 2D drawing layout and GD&T
  • Understanding of High Voltage (HV) architecture of electric powertrains
  • Familiarity with Python and LabVIEW
  • Prior experience in automotive projects
  • Understanding of basic manufacturing and fabrication processes
