Job Title: GCP Data Engineer
Location: Richardson,Texas or Hartford,CT,  (Hybrid / Onsite as required)
Employment Type: Contract (W2)

 

Role Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced GCP Data Engineer to support enterprise data modernization and analytics initiatives. This role focuses on building and maintaining scalable data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with strong emphasis on Python-based development, BigQuery, and data warehouse migration from legacy systems such as SAS and Teradata.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on data engineer with strong problem-solving skills and experience working in large, complex data environments.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with Python for data engineering (core language, data processing, performance tuning).
  • Experience with PySpark for large-scale data transformations.
  • Solid experience with Google Cloud Platform, including:
    • Google Cloud Storage (GCS)
    • BigQuery
  • Strong SQL skills, including complex queries and optimization.
  • Experience with BigQuery Migration Service / SQL Translation.
  • Working knowledge of SAS code and ability to understand legacy data logic.
  • Familiarity with Teradata data warehouses and SQL.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale data pipelines in production.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with Cloud Composer (Apache Airflow).
  • Exposure to Java / Spring Boot for future integration or backend services.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for data engineering workflows.
  • Experience working in regulated or large enterprise environments.

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
