As a Python data analyst, you use the Python programming language to develop tools for data mining, analysis, and data visualization. You typically develop a script to meet the specific data needs of your client or employer. Then, you test your code and perform debugging duties before deploying it in a live environment. Some data analysts also have algorithm creation responsibilities. In this case, after creating and testing an algorithm, you use Python with your algorithm to interpret data. You also develop reports to show to your clients or employers, and you may code a web app or interface that clients can use to visualize data sets.

The Transportation Operational Analytics team serves as the central analytics hub for Walmart’s Transportation organization, enabling data‑informed decisions across the enterprise.
We support the systems and processes that move trucks across the network -analyzing how freight flows from DCs to suppliers and stores, how transportation systems perform, and where opportunities exist to improve speed, cost, and service.
The team focuses on:
  • Building dashboards and analytical tools that monitor transportation KPIs and system performance.
  • Supporting AOP savings initiatives through advanced analytics and optimization strategies.
  • Providing ad‑hoc and executive‑ready analytics that support fast, informed decision‑making.

  • Evaluate how operational processes and system configurations impact service, cost, utilization, and execution.
  • Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities within transportation workflows and supporting systems.
 Data Management & Quality
  • Extract, validate, and manage data from multiple transportation systems and data sources.
  • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures to support analytics use cases.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and alignment with governance and compliance standards.

  • Communicate insights through compelling storytelling and visualizations tailored to operational and leadership audiences.
  • Support leadership with ad‑hoc analyses to enable timely, data‑backed decisions.

  • Lead root‑cause analyses to identify operational and system drivers of performance issues.
  • Recommend and support process and system improvements using data‑driven insights.
