PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Arthur Companies is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to support our finance and accounting team. This internship provides hands-on experience in agricultural accounting, grain operations support, and financial reporting within a multi-location organization.
The Accounting Intern will assist with day-to-day accounting functions while gaining exposure to real-world business operations in the agriculture industry.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting Support
  • Assist with daily accounting transactions and data entry
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts
  • Help prepare journal entries and supporting documentation

Grain & Operational Accounting Support
  • Assist with grain settlement documentation and data verification
  • Support inventory tracking and reconciliation
  • Help prepare reports related to margins and operational performance
  • Participate in month-end close support activities

Reporting & Analysis
  • Compile financial data for internal reporting
  • Assist in preparing spreadsheets and analysis in Excel
  • Support special projects and ad hoc financial analysis

Administrative & Team Support
  • Organize and maintain accounting files and documentation
  • Support process documentation and internal control procedures
  • Collaborate with operations and location staff as needed

Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications
  • Interest in agriculture or agribusiness
  • Prior internship or work experience in accounting or finance
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (experience not required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing and data entry
  • Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds
  • Other physical requirements as assigned
